Best Ink for a Lamy Al-Star

My favorite blue is Waterman Florida Blue, a nice, deep erasable blue.

The bottle is designed to tilt on its side so that you can get more of the ink when it runs low.

If you like the color of Lamy cartridges, get a bottle of Lamy Blue, the bottle is really nice as it let you get the last of the ink, it is also erasable.

Pelikan Blue is also a school ink so it is earasable as well, try it in a regular bottle then if you like it refill it by purchasing one of the really big bottles, 8.45 oz or 1 litter bottle.

Herbin Blue inks are really nice for a change a pace or your favorite subject.

As much as I love them their cute bottle is more expensive than the other inks and the content is hard to get when it runs low. One of their blue is erasable but I forgot which one.

I took all my classes notes from 4th grades to college with fountain pens and blue ink.

I would say make sure you are able to refill your pen at lunch or buy a Vista or a Safari or both as backup for the All-Star.

This way you only need to fill the 3 pens every evening and you don't have to worry about running out of ink.

No matter what bottle of ink you get buy a couple of boxes of Lamy cartridges in case you forgot to refill the night before, if ( when:) ) you buy a new Lamy buy a converter for each new pen and a spare.

Place your pen(s) and box of cartridges in some kind of case and place the case upward, pen nib up in your book bag.

Lamy blue bottled ink is good. Works well on most papers. Nice bottle and cheap as chips. Not as bright as some other inks though but good for taking notes, I think it was developed as a student ink. All the Diamine blues I have tried work well in Lamy Safaris / Al -Stars (same feed and nib). Sheaffer skrip blue works well too and is cheap and easy to get hold of.

Is the Lamy bottled blue ink the same as the Royal Blue cartridges?

I think so. Looks the same to me and I have both. I carry Lamy cartridges as emergency backups in case the ink in my converter runs out.

Thanks. I am currently using the Royal Blue cartridge, I'm new to Lamy.
