This is a very cool colour, and I agree, I'm not quite sure where I'd use it for any length of time.

This is the purple that I have been looking for.

This precise shade.

I have to go and order some now.

My saguaro wine looks much more like the cuetip swab than the writing sample. I wonder if your pen was completely flushed before loading with the new ink?

This sample is pretty close (the fifth line is Saguaro Wine by itself): http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l279/T-Caster/P1020105.jpg

This is a saturated ink with only slight shading. One can mix a number of interesting colors by mixing it with various blues and greens.

In my experience, Saguaro Wine does look more like the fifth line in DanF's scan than the one in the original post.

Same for me, as a matter of fact in a in all the pens I tried it, short of an overloaded dip pen, the color displays quite a bit of "fushia" hues.

I might have a bad/mislabelled bottle?

Checked The Writing Desk's color comparison tool and this seems very close in color to Ottoman Rose which I just purchased. The Ottoman seems to shade much better, but question: is this a close color to Ottoman,or am I dreaming?? Sold my Saquaro awhile back but seem to remember it's fairly close to Ottoman Rose

I use both colors. They are similar, but Ottoman Rose is a lot more red while Saguro Wine is a lot more fuscia/purplish. I agree, my saguro wine looks a lot more like the qtip swab than the writing sample.

I loved the color, but it didn't dry quickly enough for me to use, even with a fine nib. (Lefty problem.)

Mine, too, looked more like the swab than the writing sample, but a bit deeper than the swab.

Best, Ann

There is something strange going on with your Saguaro Wine bottle. My bottle looks more like the cutip swatch (but deeper and darker) and not at all like the written review.

Please never mind the feathering. These note cards are just plain awful.

I'm in agreement, more like the swab and what DanF and Dizzypen have posted. Though I do like the purple in Penguinmasters' review!

Wow this is an older one. I did just inked up a Pilot Preppy and got a different color than what is in this review. I could do another review. I will say that the review above matches my paper copy I have. Could have been the pen! It is a closer color to the matches above in a Pilot Preppy.

Regards,

Tom

p.s. feel free to check out that ink as well as many others at my new site; Pens and Ink

edited: I tried it in two pens, one pen did come out the same color as above, the other (the preppy) came out to the color everyone is saying it should be.

It's very likely that there was some residual blue or turquoise ink in the pen used in the original review. That's happened to me before with other inks. Anyone who likes the color in the original review could probably create it by mixing, as DanF did in post #4.

Oh my! My bottle also looks more like the Q-tip swab. The rest of it is very purple. Pretty but very unlike what I get from my bottle.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
