Parker Esprit

Parker Esprit is my first fountain pen. It is small, but its weight does not proportional its size. It is a little bit heavy although the weight is well balanced. The whole body is made by metal and the inner part is made by white plastic. The only one the I dislike is that the cover is rather tight.

The nib is not made by gold or other expensive metals but metal. I think it is steel. It says 'Parker M' . It writes smooth when compared with my ball-pens although it might be the cheapest FP model that Parker ever made. Parker does not failed its quality in making lower model Fountain pens.

I think the extendable head is a unique design in fountain pen. I have never see a fountain pen comes with this design. Because it is usually applied in ball pens or come pencil only.

I don't know how much it is in other places. I think it is a good fountain pen and worth to try if you want a pen made by famous pen manufacturer with low cost. I think it is collectable from its unique design.

Nice pen, but this is not a unique design of Parker. You can do a search on the Rotring Esprit, which Parker copied straight from. Rotring and Parker now belong to the same company, so they are sharing designs.

I find Parker is going to product lots of 'younger' pens. They are stylish and colourful. Like the latest one : Vector. This model has not arrive to HK. I found it is much colourful and stylish than the previous models like Duofold.

You'd probably find that purchasing fountain pens online might be a better option, you get a much wider range and the prices are usually better too. The disadvantage to this of course, is you can't try out the pens before you buy them.

 

I was born in HK actually, and I do visit regularly. I've found that not many places sell fountain pens, and even when they do, they're at full retail price.

 

And coincidentally, the Rotring Esprit was the first fountain pen that I purchased, so I have fond memories of it

I have one of these, only it's called Rotring Esprit. Great pen for the price.

I agree. I have never see a FP specialist or shop. Most of them are found in department's store. I agree that I need to get FP from online action sites. I live in HK since I was born. I find the recent price has been raised a lot when contrast with 2000.

 

I think the reason that Parker make this pen might due to it's special design. Parker might need to become younger and attract more teen-adults. I notice that not many people love traditional designs, they think it is too old and expensive for them.

Actually, there is this one specialist pen store called Hop Cheung, which is in the middle of Central on the main tram road. Don't remember the exact address, but it's a very tiny shop that's easy to miss.

I recently got one. Black with M nib and the writing is very smooth. Better than the Parker Urban. The weight is very well balanced and the pen itself is not too short.
