Swisher Apricot Orange

Recommended Posts

First, apologies for inflicting my hasty chicken scratch on you, but if you want to see the ink, you'll have to take your anti-nausea medicine and get over it :P .

Second, this is a brief one page review done using primarily a wet medium nibbed Stipula Duetto LE and a glass dip nib.

Third, I believe this is the Swisher version of Noodlers Apache Sunset, but am not sure.

The bottom line - a great ink with phenomenal shading! I recommend it if you're looking for a red-orange.

The ink review was scanned at 300 dpi and then reduced.

Without further ado, here's the review (hey, that rhymes  ):

Hi SP,

Thanks for the review. It does look a lot like Apache Sunset. I have a bottle of the Apricot coming in the mail this week. I thought it would be brighter orange.

I'll just have to wait and see :o

Boy, if Noodler's did decide to make Apache Sunset waterproof, I'd be buying it so fast my credit card would melt.....

It is - scanner problem. I tried to adjust the image, but couldn't get it right. I'll keep playing with it when I can and see. It's just hard to accurately represent such a vibrant color.

Good review, Southpaw. I did sell my Apricot Orange because compared to my orange mix it looked like burnt orange (or maybe it was just the particular bottle that I had.)

Keep the reviews coming! I'm about to post one on Noodler's Naval Orange and Noodler's Goldfinch--both waterproof.

Best, Ann

Here's a color-corrected photo (not scan). It's closer to the correct color, but it's still hard to capture such a bright color.

Yup, that`s what my ink looks like. I filled my Lamy orange safari with this Apricot Orange and it`s orangey alright. Can`t wait to try it in my Liason Orange Ebonite.

I just love the way these Swisher inks dry. :D

I`m now trying to restrain myself from buying more. Now I have enough ink to fill a large hot tub with

Hi Southpaw,

Thanks for a great review!

And yes, I think the picture comes very close to the real colour. Actually, that is to me the way it looks like :D. I happen to have a bottle as well, and as far as I can see, it is Cayenne, which I also have, in a fast drying guise. Maybe a little more yellow undertones, especially in finer and drier nibs. And it feathers a little more than Cayenne, but you don't notice this effect on good quality fountain pen friendly paper.

Warm regards, Wim

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
