Jules Squid Pen From Drago Pens Via Winedoc

Ok, after gnashing of teeth I decided on American Blue from Private Reserve.

After polishing, holding and staring forever I finally put pen to paper.

I am not a techy so this will be short and to the point.

I can not find a single problem with the fit and finish.

The design is outstanding; photos do not do justice to this pen.

I have no problem holding it; it is very comfortable in my hand and rests perfectly.

It glides across the paper and even as smooth as it is I do not find myself running off the paper.

The nib is second to none and even writing very fast you have great control. I did not expect the flex......yahoo.

Two problems.

1. It was hard deciding on the ink.

2. I find myself looking at it for really long periods of time.

SN 1 and it is all mine, courtesy of personal silly person.

I swiped winedocs photo.

Shouldn't you use sepia ink in it?

Ok, I'll bite: what is "Drago Pens" and where can I see more of them? I do a little jewelry making on the side and this Squid pen has me intrigued.

My PSP would likely do the same if I indicated just how much I loved the pen and could somehow explain it's "value" as a part of my collection.

I would have such a difficult time inking it, though. I'd agonize over it until I probably couldn't justify owning it.

I still think it's gorgeous. I'm envious. :(

Enjoy! American Blue sounds like a good choice. At some point I'd try Black Magic Blue in it. I mean, if it were my Jules. -_-

I have only one question about this pen:

Whatever the squid is holding in its tentacles... where is it trying to put it?

Congratulations, and I'm glad you're enjoying it so much. It really is an extraordinary pen. :)

JD, you are one lucky FP owner! Not many people have the pleasure of owning that fine instrument. It is a remarkable conversation piece too. I'd almost sell off my prized collection pieces to own that Squid. Incidentally, what kind of nib did you get with it and what were the options?

Enjoy, enjoy! :D

Great ink choice, JD!

Wonderful to see how you are enjoying your Jules.

Just a quick postscript to tell inksmudges that the maker of this pen is Dragon, just Dragon, and your best source of info until they get their website up and running, is Kevin Cheng, our own winedoc.

Thanks Dan, I was beginning to think that maybe my wee question had gotten lost in all the hubub.

something rare and original enjoy it ;)

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I love the idea of the squid signal--I hope it would be an inky blue cloud!

And it's great seeing JD enjoy his pen so much.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
