Danitrio Cum laude brown

Hi,

 

This is my first review so bear with me. I just received the Danitrio brown cum laude pen from Kevin. I decided to get the pen, because danitrio are supposed to be excellent pen (which now I can say as a fact rather then suposition). ordered the pen last week (monday) and asked Kevin if he could change the nib for a two tone nib. I did so without extra charge and sent the pen. I would be 1 week from the day he sent it, and I live in Canada, so it was quick.

 

First impressions:

 

The pen arrive in a small black generic pen case, with a little card saying thank you, and Kevin contact information. It was a nice little touch. The pen, when I saw it how amazed I was. My own little danitrio! My precious!

 

Appearance and finish:

 

I could see anything which was perfect on the pen. The dept of the celluloid is gorgeous, the size is very nice. I had asked kevin to change the nib so I have a nice two tone nib! The only thing I could say that takes away from the finish would be the black nib section. I would give this pen 4,5/5

Design size weight:

 

This is my biggest pen, I have not many comparison to make in term of size or weight. The pen is about 3x heavier then my pelikan m400. the body capped is 15 cm long, and diameter of 1,5 cm. My pelikan is 1,2 cm in diameter. It is a noticable difference. I really like the size and weight. One thing I like less, is you have to unscrew a lot more then my pelikan to get the cap off (this is a very minor problem). It has a cigar shape which is very nice. It's just gorgeous. The nib is full sized and really stands out. The appearance exceeds my expectation.

Nib design and performance,

 

The nib is smooth, wet, stiff (german irridium point), I chose a medium nib, never skips. I haven't had the chance to check if it will start but I give the benefit of the doubt. I'll repost in a couple of weeks with more info on this. It's a nice medium. The two tone nib :)9 Performance is flawless. It is wetter then my pelikan m400, require less pressure to make a line and stiffer then the pelikan nib.

Filling system

 

The filling system is a converter, functional.

This is the best pen for the price I ever bought. (I'll have to compare next week with my 27$ pen)

Overall, 24/25. It's the best pen I have had yet. Overall, I am surprise there are any left! THese are superb pen. :)9

I live in Canada too, and am always impressed by Kevin's (Winedoc's) excellent service .

I don't have a Cum Laude model, but I do have one of the $27 Dani Trio pens, a Dani Trio Brilliante and a Dani Trio Tosca. All are excellent pens that start up without any hesitation!

What ink did you use in your new pen? It looks like a good candidate for the new FPN Galileo Manuscript Ink...

Many of you don't know that Danitrio has been in pen business since 1970s, but historically, they have not been good at marketing. That's why a lot of their good pens went unnoticed for years.

Yes I am a left handed person. Weirdly, my parent told me it was by choice. Since we were not punished anymore to be left handed, I started writing left handed. MOst other things I am right handed, but not writing. I always had this rebelious streak. I dont have problem with ink neither, since I am a underwriter, unless it's a really bad paper with really bad ink, but right handed people have the same problem in these circumstances. Now all of my pens are med nib, because I had a couple of cheap fine and they would scratch when driven accross the paper. I don't have a very fancy handwritting but it's fast and functionnal. And many people think It's not a very readable form.

Great review Cloud, thanks for sharing! I have one of the Alphaplus FP converts and love it. You can read in another thread where the deep, rich celluloid made me try to eat it. Just thinking about it makes me hungry.

 

I recently received a fat yellow $33 pen which I purchased off a fellow FPN'er. I haven't inked it yet, but this is one great looking pen, and feels so good in my hand. I like pens that are cool to the touch.
