I just received the Marlen Atellan Tales fp from Giardino Italiano so here is a brief review about it.

Lousy (quality) picture first:

First of all I must say that the service I got from Giardino Italiano was 1st class. The shipment arrived in few days after my order to Finland. They sent me also a very nice pen magazine, "Penna", with the shipment free of charge.

The pen comes in a beautiful, hinged box, which is covered in nice synthetic leatherette kind of material. The box is quite large and would quite easily hous 5 or 6 pens. In the box there is also a mini brochure from Marlen and a warranty card, which was filled by Giardino Italiano.

The pen I purchased is the Dossenus variant which is black with some red accents. The pen body and feed is made of ebonite. The nib is 18K gold, I ordered it as F. The cap ring and clip is made of 925 silver and their form is classique.

The filling system is by piston, it workes nicely and smoothly. As I just got the pen I do not know the ink capacity but I suspect it is adequate, anyway better than a c/c model. The cap has screws, which I like as the cap stays put when closed. When posted, the cap stays on also securely.

The pen is quite light and the balance, lenght and diameter I find pleasing for extended writing periods. I found no fatigue when writing some full pages in my journal with it. The nib is a bit toothy, but looks like it is a usual thing with italian pens. In fact, I like it as it feels like I can control the nib better on paper.

No skipping so far. I can really recommend this pen!

Here is some new photos:

Nice review! And it's good to see some more info on Marlen pens. IMO, many Marlens are excellent pens, but for some resaon, they don't seem to get that much attention. I'm very fond of my Basilea and Dotcom pens, which I think are beautifully made, distinctive, and good value.

Thanks for telling us about a model that, to my knowledge, hasn't been featured on here at all.

Thanks for the nice review. Feel free to add more pics later, too. I too appreciate hearing more about Marlens. I don't have one, but have toyed with the idea for quite some time.

Wow, love the colors (on the link you provided, as I wasn't able to see the images you posted), such a distinctive pen! Thanks for the review, I hadn't known anything about this brand before.

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!
