Here's the ink review for the second ink vial I received from Jared: Diamine Midnight. All in all, thanks for the two ink vials, Jared.

Anybody know where to buy Midnight in these United States?

Thanks.

Thanks for posting the review. I haven't found it to bleed through on the Clairefontaine paper I'm using but it does on my Miguelrius.

It's not available in the US. You can buy directly from Diamine.

Thank you very much for your nice review. It is a lovely, dark blue!

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

Just ordered my bottle today, as well as another 30mL bottle of Diamine Sapphire Blue.

The Writing Desk (no affiliation, etc.) seems to have them even cheaper than buying direct from Diamine. I recently bought some R&K inks from them and shipping was super-fast.

I definitely love your writing, I just hope it wouldn't mean that this ink would look a disappointment in my scribble. Hmmm, 15% off Diamine sale, I'm tempted, very tempted.

To confirm Silverminks post: indeed the Writing Desk does sell Diamine cheaper than Diamine.uk even with their 15%. This is Writing Desk's everyday price. They are an excellent source for ink and cheaper to buy from than most, even if you live in the USA.

The image has been replaced by "posted image" in letters, at least from my Pc.

Thanks to Rogerb I've had the chance to test this ink and is a great subdued dark blue which behaves very well. Nice review and hand.

Imageshack replaced the scanned Diamine Midnight with a blank page. Odd...

Anyways, I've just upload the image again.

Enjoy

  • 2 weeks later...

Got my bottle today. The purple hint after the water test is slightly evident when writing. However, it dries to a wonderful dark blue which is much better behaved than Diamine Majestic. But in all seriousness, I need to get the 80ml bottle soon. It's great!

Signum and Henry, did you order from the UK? Stylus told me they did not have it when I asked, six or eight weeks ago.

Rather, just Henry--I see looking back that Signum got a vial . . .

I ordered mine directly from Diamine, along with another bottle of Sapphire blue.

The ink is darker than I expected... A wonderful color.

Dear Signum1,

Could you give me a more detailed name for the Domtar 32lb paper you use for your reviews. Your reviews seem to indicate that most inks dry very quickly on your paper. This is a big issue for me, since I am left-handed. Thanks.

Vectorbundle,

Domtar 32 lbs paper is carried in Staples stores located in Canada. Here is the link: Domtar 32lbs paper.

If you are in the U.S., the Staples stores in the U.S. would carry HP 32 lbs paper because they don't stock the Domtar 32lbs paper. Here is the link: HP 32lbs paper.

If you insist on using the Domtar 32lb paper, visit your local print shop that makes invoices and letterheads and request for a special order of the Domtar FirstChoice EarthChoice ColorPrint Premium Laser Paper, 8 1/2" x 11". Before you commit to buying a case, ask the print shop for a sample sheet to test your fountain pen first.

I know one FPN member ordered a case of this Domtar 32lb paper from his local print shop.

FYI -- I have purchased a number of different Diamine inks from Appointments in Cincinnati. And I know they ship orders, as I just received a Lamy 2000 with an X-Fine nib that they shipped to me here in Eastern Indiana. Or if you prefer, you can also order it from Amazon.

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
