Walt Disney Sleeping Beauty LE made by Monteverde.

I saw the pen on the net and was thinking to myself WOW what a beauty but paying around 500$ for this pen was out of the question.

Well when I saw Bryant has one of his great deals on this pen I snatched it and let me tell you it is BEAUTIFUL!!!

http://i516.photobucket.com/albums/u330/alfa170a/Picture005-9.jpg

So this is Monteverde's first attempt to play with the big boys and make a LE pen.

An entry level pen maker making an expensive pen is a risky business.

Well in any case there was a lot of thought put into this pen both the box and the pen itself.

So let's start with the box.

A beautiful lacquer box with a glass cover.

On the front it reads Walt Disney Signature and accompanying the pen is a small booklet that tells you about Sleeping Beauty and the pen.

The pen acrylic white body is drool worthy. I love white pens with gold trim.

There are swirls in the acrylic and it just adds to the beauty of the pen.

The trim is not yellow gold but rose gold.

There is a rose engraved at the top of the pen or as they call it the crown of the pen.

The clip is adorned with a snowflake stone.

Pen is not short but it is designed to be posted and you need to screw the cap on the barrel ends, well designed and very secured.

Filling mechanism is a standard CC.

Pen comes with a Monteverse converter that you screw into the section.

The nib is a 14K fine nib.

Nothing fancy about it but it is a wet smooth writer with a touch of flex.

Pen has a metal section and metal end with gives you a pretty neutral balance.

It also gives the pen a bit more heft then I expected it but the pen is still not as heavy as a brass piston filled pen.

http://i516.photobucket.com/albums/u330/alfa170a/Picture020-4.jpg

At the bottom the pen starts wide and slowly narrows toward the section.

So the section is actually pretty narrow and is just a bit too narrow for my taste but is still very comfortable and I am sure I could get used to write with it very fast if needed.

Conclusion

Beautiful pen, beautiful presentation box

And a unique theme for this pen.

It is a good writer and even though its not the perfect pen I think it is one of the most unique pens I own and I am sure I will use it every so often.

It is a bit feminine (which I have no problem with) and maybe in the future if my princes will get into FP's she will get this pen as a gift from her loving father.

Respect to all

Nice review (especially liked the last line -- you saved me from asking you if you'd dare have it in your pocket on a night out with the guys ;) ). I bought one for my wife (her grail pen), and it really is a nicely made, beautiful pen. Small price (thanks, Bryant!) to pay, since it was this or give her my DaVinci Infinity that just returned from the Italian spa for a makeover.

If Monteverde can follow up on this in like manner, there may just be a new player in the game.

Glad your wife likes the pen.

I wish my wife would get a kick out of FP's.

lovely pen :) an ideal woman's pen

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have this pen. I advrrtised it for sale at $100 (no box or papers), and have never understood why there were no takers. Its a gorgeous looking pen, and as goodguy says, it writes so very smoothly, with a hint of flex.

The only reason I want to hand it on is because I need the funds for university, otherwise it would definitely stay in my drawers for good.

Anyone fancy one after reading this review please PM me...

My feeling is the pen and all the nice trimmings that comes with it is more suited for collectors rather than daily users. At $100, is it (typo) it is a great price for a beautiful penAll the best for a salehappyberet.gifhappyberet.gif

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
