Review: Diamine Old English - Imperial Purple

Hi, after lurking around for a few days, I've decided to finally post here - and to review one of my new inks, so I'm killing two birds with one stone. Anyways - I'll introduce myself in the appropriate section so on with the review.

This is just a basic review of Diamine's Old English Imperial Purple ink, no comparisons because my ink collection is limited. This is my first review ever so I hope it's informative and useful to some of you - if it isn't please don't hesitate to tell me how I can improve my next one for you. Well then, here it is:

Thank you very much for your review. Seeing the swab makes me think of Noodler's Violet Vote (Pendemonium exclusive), though without the eternal characteristics. I wonder how this new purple compares to other similar colors in Diamine's ink line.

Very nice review. I liked the format you used. It's very simple, clear and gives the information that I'm most interested in about an ink! Good job!

Welcome to FPN.

Very nice review!

I have this ink as well, but mine seems a bit darker - I don't notice it getting muted when it dries, as you've observed. Interesting - maybe there are variations between batches? Mine stays quite a vivid purple. I've used it mostly in a fairly wet Lamy Safari - I wonder if that could make any difference.

Excellent work! Thanks for taking the time to do it and for doing it so well.

I think I lost some of the vibrancy when I scanned my sheet - in real life it is a fairly bright colour - at least a little brighter than the scan.

Great review, nice and simple! It's certainly lighter than the Diamine Damson I use.

This is not 2010 IP. I think the formulary isn't the same as it was a yr. ago.My new IP has more punch, redder by comparison.More like MB Violet.

How does one pronounce this particular brand name?

Answer in this post

I've been on a quest to see if I could commit all Seven Deadly Sins in a single day. Finally, it dawned on me I shouldn't try for the One Day Wonder Prize for all seven in one day. It's simply out of any question as you can't commit decent sloth while busily ticking the other six off your crowded "to do" list. -- ViolinWriter

Virtual,

Thx for the review. Lovely Ink.

A question on your Ink Reveiw Form. Where did you get it? ... as I would like to get a Pad or some sheets of it for a possible Review I'd like to do.

Thx in advance for that.

Cheers,

LF

Write Diamine Ink is a water-based ink is not waterproof. It is perfect for pens and ink calligraphy absolutely ideal as starter. Colors can be diluted or mixed to give a number of effects.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
