Edison #76

Recommended Posts

I was drawn to this material as it looked like amber. It is called Tortoise Lucite.

The pen is 6" capped. 5 1/8" uncapped. It does not post. Barrel is 9/16" just above the section.

The section is concave and 3/8" at the narrowest. The section is just shy of 3/4" (maybe 1/32").

I had also been looking for an eye dropper. I've filled this with Noodler's Eternal Brown.

The nib is 18k, made in Germany.

I've only had the pen for 2 days but I am thrilled. Getting to pick the material, and then watching your pen

being made is special. I hope to do a real review soon, but wanted

to post the pictures. 4 shots: empty; first load of ink; second load of ink; and full.

Very nice looking pen!

It is fun to know that there does not exist another pen exactly like yours anywhere.

Nice! I didn't realize the material was translucent and you could see the ink chamber, all the better. Congrats on your new pen.

Very nice! Your pictures give the pen that "warm" look that amber has, and that has always been a draw for me.

I'd been wondering what the eyedropper version filled would look like, and now I know. It is very appealing. Plus, I've my eye on a #76 as well. I like the largeness of the pen and the style. It seems it would be a good match for my Menlo.

I just ordered some pen blanks that really caught my eye (and my pocketbook) that I'm hoping to have Brian create a #76 from, in a beautiful transluscent red and black. I picked up the remaining stock, which was 5 blanks. Maybe I can squeeze a Herald or another Pearl out of it, too. I'm likely to go converter, though.

I also like that warm look you have conveyed so nicely. I was also very curious what an eyedropper version of this model would look like. I am thinking about my next Edison pen, and this one is a contender. If I were to get one, I would have to ask for a straight section, though. The hour glass shape is aesthetically appealing, but much too narrow for me.

Congratulations on your new pen. It is an eye catcher. How's the nib? Is it made by Bock?

  • 6 months later...

Beautiful pen!

Would be interesting to hear your thoughts about it now since you've had it for several months now....

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
