De Atramentis Inks

Jared

Recommended Posts

In addition to including the latest of Pilot's Iroshizuku inks, I suggested that Jet Pens add the De Atramentis line. I picked some of these up in Germany, and find them to be a wonderful ink. They replied to say that they are "looking to add more great products" and that they're reviewing the "import requirements." I'd love to see a US source, and recommend that you contact them to let them know if you're interested.

I'm gonna pick up a list of 'em I have assembled over the last months, here in Berlin. I.e. no customs junk. More later.

this would be wonderful. I've only tried the Sapphire, but it is a wonderful ink, and the other colors look quite interesting too. Hopefully they won't cost $22 like the Pilot inks!

Jared, I just found out today that you can get them from Canada, from a shop called www.stylo.ca as well as R&K inks. If you ask them for shipping quotes, will you please report back?

You can get De atramentis inks from a store in toronto called Laywines, branded under Laywines. I haven't really checked them out. I may buy a bottle tomorrow

Ondina, where did you hear about DeAtramentis at La boutique du stylo? I have one shop in the city, and never seen it there. Their web site is pretty well up to date, and nothing there.

As for laywines, they do have some and stock some of the weird ones (like the one made from coffee or wine). Am discussing a shipment from them right now!

Also stylus pens in canada has some, but mostly the regular brand. Also, when I send in questions about if\when they would get some, they "politely" told me that the web site was up to date, and would be if they would get some.

As I said, placing an order to laywines. Even if theis web site is not detailed, their answers by e-mail are more personal.

I was in Laywines a few weeks ago and their De Atramentis stock looked to be in great shape and they are some of the nicest people in the business.

There is more here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=99131

I ordered some from Rolf Thiel at missing-pen.de. It cost me 13,00 Euro. Rolf was great to work with. I had planned on ordering 5 inks and was given the 13,00 Euro price for shipping but he e-mailed and told me that he could fit more in there for the same shipping cost if I wanted any more. YES! In the end, I got 11 de Atrementis inks for the same shipping price. Once I converted it to USD, Laywine's was $2.00 cheaper but I didn't like the lack of information on selection and no color chart. I couldn't read the order form so I just sent him an e-mail with the list of what I wanted. It took 5 weeks to get here. I was a bit nervous because I had not dealt with customs or overseas shipping very much and didn't expect it to take that long. I suspect that's not normal but I don't know. In any case, I was very pleased with Rolf's service. I didn't think the price was that bad for that many inks. I intend to order more from him. For one thing he has the best selection that I've seen and I detest paying shipping for 1 bottle here, two bottles there and another one someplace else.

Oh yeah, the de Atramentis has fast become my favorite inks. Diamine close behind. Love 'em! Too bad I can't seem to get around to doing some reviews, eh?

Concur. Rolf's service and knowledge is excellent. If your German isn't quite what it should be, don't hesitate to email Rolf in English. He is very interested in helping you and selling you what you need at your convenience. I previously used to order almost exclusively from Pendemonium, but since they've moved away from selling modern inks and stationery, I find myself ordering from the Missing Pen more and more.

It is also worth mentioning that the Missing Pen has an exclusive Noodler's Ink colour of their own...if you are thinking of ordering other stuff from him anways... :)

It would be nice to have a U.S. distributor of de Atramentis inks but until then......

Pendemonium is some of my favorite people and a nice selection of my favorite brands but I had to give it up since I've been checking the stock since November for what I wanted to buy. :( Now that I've tried Rolf's (based on recommendations here on FPN) it seems like a no brainer. My German is non-existent and Rolf's English is somewhat limited but we figured it out without much trouble. I couldn't fill out the on-line form so just sent an e-mail saying this, and this and that. I'm already gleaning through my favorite brands color charts and cooking up my next order. It's like Mall shopping at Rolf's. Most everything at one location. He's got a great selection of converters, too, if you're looking for some less common ones.

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
