PR Arabian Rose

My first review (and first post after lurking for a while. hi y'all!) Be gentle. :)

For those who can't read my writing:

PR Arabian Rose in a Lamy Al Star M (I'm a nerd and bought this ink specifically to match this pen)

Very pretty/readable dark rose color. I don't have a ton of experience with inks...my only other ink is PR Ebony purple. This is a wetter ink than that. It feels very nice in my lamy, which writes on the drier side I think. Not a lot of feedback from the paper. I really really like the color...it reminds me of almost ripe raspberries.

there's a little bit of shading which adds to the character of the color. That's my favorite part. There's a hint of shadow on the back side of the page and some "blood dots." Not waterproof, but would survive a drip or two. Dried fast in on the copy paper and the clairfontaine, not so much on the moleskine.

The color is pretty true to what shows on my monitor except the moleskine photo, which is a smidge darker and more purple-y in person. ymmv. :) If you click on the photos, go to "all sizes" and click large you'll be able to see the shading better. Hope this helped!

Thank you for this review -- it really is a great colour. I have Strang to thank for encouraging me to try it, so I should encourage others as well.

Thank you for the review, Arabian Rose is one of my favorite ink, although not a burgundy per se, it is now my burgundy ink of choice ;)

Omas Bologna - M (Noodler's Golden Brown)

Pelikan M620 Grand Place - Binder XF/XXF Flex (Noodler's Navajo Turquoise)

Stipula 22 - 0.9 (Waterman Florida Blue)

Waterman Patrician - M (Waterman Florida Blue)

Nice review and great handwriting - I like that you show it on different papers.

This is one of my favorites too. I often use it as a marking/editing ink, as it doesn't behave *quite* so well in my moleskine journals (most PR inks don't for me) but I really like it otherwise. It's pretty without being too flashy.

And welcome to FPN!

In this place matching the ink to the pen may considered as the height of chic!

Great review, thanks very much for sharing it with us.

Great handwriting, and examples on different paper! I have this ink, but have neglected it. Hmm. Maybe I need to load it up in the next pen I get in the mail.

PS. I got a friend of mine a pink Lamy like that...almost didn't give it to her, I liked it so much!

I'm almost out of Caran d'Ache Storm and the picture here looks like it could be a really close match. Anyone know if it is???

Make sure to hit the download button to get the high-resolution scan. Arabian Rose is just over Storm. Both are shown using a Pelikan M nib, and XF/XXF Flex nib and Arabian Rose with my wet Bologna M nib!

I have them both, they're nothing alike. The scan upthread is pretty accurate on my monitor.

The close match to Storm would be J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune, which is just a smidge redder (and not in the least water resistant, unlike Storm -- a quibble only odd people like me worry about, probably). Storm is a touch bluer, but they are very similar. Arabian Rose is, well, dark pink (i.e., rose). I love both Storm and Arabian Rose, but they are not equivalents.
