BEXLEY POSEIDON FOUNTAIN PEN

This is my first review so be gentle.

 

Sorry if my English is not perfect, but I'll try my best not to make mistakes.

I've been around FPN for a while now but mainly as a reader, and confess that I have really learned alot from you guys.

I was looking at my pen colection and decided that this particular pen has not been reviewed or not lately.

 

About the Pen:

I purchased it off an Ebay seller in the USA about 2 years ago. I belive it to be a special limited version because os its color. It's got a numbered reference of 11/28. Not sure but I think that Bexley only made 28 pens in this color. If I am right, then it must be a rare pen.

 

 

 

Appearance/ Finish: 4out of 5

Resin pen. The trims are silver, which really makes the pen diferente because this colors normaly are seen with gold trins. The ends are medium brown, the same as the swirls. I love the way that the different shades of blue come together with the brown on this pen.

 

 

 

Design/Size/Weight: 4.5 out of 5

The shape of this pen is a semi- cigar shape. The pen is fairly short closed, but posted, it greatly gets quite big in size. The diameter is about the same as a MB 146 and is very comfortable to use.

As far as balance goes, this pen writes just fine without the cap being posted. If you have large hands or you just like long pens, then posting the cap might be right up your alley.

The weight of this pen is about the same as the MB 146 so it would be safe to say that this pen weighs around 25 grams

 

 

 

Nib Design and Performance 5 out of 5

This particular nib is 18kt gold and rhodium plated bold width nib. I think that it's made ar Bock. The flow on this pen is about as perfect as you can get. The pen is a wet smooth writer but this what to be expected from a bold nib. A good thing about Bexley nibs and pens is that you can inter change them so you can own a few pens and use diferent nibs.

 

 

 

The Filling System: 3 out of 5

This pen uses a simple converter sistem. Simple and pratical but nothing special about it.

 

Cost 4.5 out of 5

Not really sure for how much they go for, but the normal ones go for about 225 – 250 USD.

This one cost about $ 200 USD so I think that I got a good deal.

 

Conclusion:

This is really a great pen to have and must be one of my favorite pens.

I really enjoy the bold nib for signing and fast writing on black paper, but it is a little too wide for everday use. Thanks to the changable nibs, I sometimes use the Fine nib from my submariner and it becomes perfect for all the other jobs.

Yes I have tried the Medium and Fine nibs in the Bexley Line. At the moment, I own 5 Pens

1 Poseidon with a bold nib

2 Submariners, one with a fine and other medium.

1 10th Aniversary Green Marbled Stub Nib

1 Simplicity Buterscotch M Nib (this one I purchaced from R. Binder)

 

Of all the nibs, I would say that the fine is the worst. Maybe I haven't got a great one or it needs an ajustment.

The Simplicity from Brinder is incredibly smooth and it comes with a M Steel nib.

I believe this is the same resin used in the Levenger Plumpster, but I prefer this version (I'm a Poseidon fan, though).
