I am posting this for Larry (Penturner), since he has no way of posting pictures from work...

Larry just picked up this very sweet Lady Skripsert Pen and Pencil set...

He says there is not a mark on it and it is spotlessly clean....

 

I am not sure what design this one is, but the color is definately periwinkle...

 

Could anyone give us an idea what this set might be worth....

Larry has not told me what he paid... He knows I will blackmail him by telling his wife :rolleyes: :rolleyes: I do know that he almost passed on this set because he thought the nib had been bent from abuse....

Some idiot told him it wasn't :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Hi,

 

Nice set, but the nib is turned upward--correct for this type of Sheaffer--Nice touch. :)

 

Shall we say it was about $60? Don't count on me, but I believe that it should be a rough estimate. :)

This is Lady Sheaffer Skripsert model VI Paisley Periwinkle which sold in 1960 for $10.00 as a pen and probably around $15 as a set.

 

As for the nib, this is the way it comes. It is common in a number of Sheaffer models and gives a larger sweet spot.

 

These pens can be found for relatively low prices because most often the sensitive enamel flakes off especially at the ends of the pen. This particular model on e-bay goes for $20-$50 depending on condition and whether there is a box or not. This model is of the "lower line" of Ladies :) The higher end models command higher prices. The most expensive Lady Sheaffer Skripsert was sold for $110 (model CX Matelasse) which was more than 4 times the price of the Pen for Men (PFM). Ladies can be expensive ;) It is a rather scarse pen and I would love to buy one if anyone has it available...

As Tom implied, I actually passed on this set yesterday because I thought the nib was trashed. then I described it to Tom and when he started to hyperventillate, I knew I had made a mistake. :doh:

So when I went back to get the set, therer was a 25% off sale going on :D Sometimes we all get lucky :D

This particular set is absolutely cherry. the pencil has what appears to be the original eraser; it is unused, and the same periwinkle blue as the pen. Unfortunately, there was no original packaging. How does this affect the value of the set. Was the $50-$60.00 price quoted above for the pen only or the set?

A $60 price set with the box in pristine condition would be possible (perhaps a bit high).

You can find them on e-bay for less but with some risk for undisclosed blemishes.

There are no precise prices. I got one of them (sans pencil) from a pen show for $20.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
