Diamine Indigo

Below is a review of Diamine Indigo ink. I purchased this ink, as well as the Diamine Blue Black and Diamine Prussian Blue, as a possible replacement for my Lamy / Montblanc Blue Black. To my eye, all three inks provide an improvement over the rather dull Lamy / Montblanc ink. However, I ended up using the Diamine Blue Black as my "go to" ink. The Prussian Blue ended up being more of a grey with Medium or larger nibs (works fine with Fine), and the Indigo does not do well on slick paper like Diamine. I use it as a "signature" ink on the copier paper that I use at work, and it works quite well in that capacity. I also find that it works well on more porous papers like Rossi and Fabriano. I have included examples of all three inks with this review.

The inks appear color correct on my monitor, but the Rossi paper is more yellow / tan in real life than the scan shows. This ink does not bleed through any of the papers that I use regularly, including the most recent Moleskine papers.

Thank you for your great review.

I was planning to buy Diamine Indigo myself, but now I'm not so sure. The Blue-Back seems much more the colour I want, Indigo appears too light.

Maybe I'll try them both, now that there are smaller bottles :).

very interesting color, thanks for the review.

Thank you very much for your review and comparisons. I have a sample of Prussian blue which shows much more than how it looks in this review.

Has anyone else found the Indigo to have the same qualities that Punch noted?

Thanks.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Gran---I have some Indigo and also a few carts of Prussian. My impression is that they are both pretty gray and light valued, with Indigo being a little darker, and a little bluer. The pics from the original poster are pretty close, maybe a little less blue. I don't have any trouble with Clairefontaine paper, so I can't agree on that score. It does dry lighter than it goes on. I didn't notice it being particularly dry. It's a good winter color if you live in an area such as I, where the great yellow orb in the sky disappears from November till June.

In use, I find the ink is actually very close to the colour of actual raw indigo/indigo dye (as opposed to spectrum indigo or the pigment colour) - so it seems suitably named

I try hard to not roll my eyes at some of their naming choices ... and fail miserably.
