I know that this ink has been reviewed before in it's previous incarnations but I just wanted to say this is my new favourite blue and my new favourite ink.

What an amazing colour!

Great flow and lubrication also.

It is indeed an excellent blue. My bottle is already getting low, because I now fill every pen with it. I have not tried any previous years' ink and have wondered how this color may vary from the other DC Blues.

I sent an email to Private Reserve asking about their DC SuperShow ink and they replied stating that "it is the same each year".

I just pick up a bottle of this ink today. I have to see how it looks and feels to me and do a short review here later.

I like it too, but I have to admit that I can't see a difference between DC blue and American blue. These two and Aurora are my favorite blue inks.

DC Supershow Blue and American Blue are my 2 favorite blue inks. I find that the DC blue is just a tad bit more saturated than the American blue. Regardless they are extremely close in color. I always try to keep between 2 and 3 bottles of DC blue at work and 4 to 5 bottles at home. I also have my Visconti Ink Pot filled with this ink. I never want to run out of this ink, I just wish they would sell the ink in larger bottles, kind of like the large Noodlers 4.5 ounce bottles with the eye dropper!!!

I have a bottle of the Noodlers blue and I feel that it is in the same ballpark as the DC and American Blue inks. Still, it is not the same shade but it is a good substitute. I also find the the Noodlers American Eel blue is as close to the shade of American and DC supershow Blue as you can get without buying the American and DC blue inks. The major drawback is the long drying time.

Hi djahughes,

I think the DC blue is a terrific blue as well, very nicely saturated, very nice and rih blue.

It has one drawback, however: it has drying problems, probably due to the high saturation levels. I recommend not to use it in a wet writer: the ink will still smear hours later, IME.

Hi Wim,

Have to agree with you there. DC is a fabulous blue, but I stopped using it because of problems with smudging. Ditto PR American. :(

Noodler's Aquamarine has become my all-purpose blue ink. Waterproof, dries quickly and never feathers, not even on newsprint. It's the blue counterpart of Noodler's Black -- and equally indispensable, IMO. :)

Never tried any PR inks, and probably won't because of smudging and slow drying reports. Us lefties have to have the quick-dry and smudge-proof.

Viseguy, I'm with you 100%. I keep Aquamarine in a couple of pens - Gulf Stream Blue also. Love 'em both, but Aquamarine is my favorite.

Hi,

I too have to insist on quick dry and smudge-prook inks because I will get ink marks all over my hands and on my arms. My left-handed sister likes Private Reserve though.

Coincidentally, I was ordering one or two things at Pendemonium this evening (before seeing this thread), and was quite taken by the DC Blue. Web graphics may be more of a guide than an absolutely accurate representation, but I thought it looked very similar to the Black Magic Blue.

I just got some of this. I had been concerned that it would be a bit too light for my taste, but - in my Conklin Mark Twain Signature M, at least - it's a lovely slightly darker mid-range blue. It's definitely high on my list!

Thanks for recommending it. :)
