... Postalco Writing Pad - Cream ...

Recommended Posts

This is a review of POSTALCO writing pad , Plain , Cream

POSTALCO makes very nice stationery (amongst other stuff) .

Their products are deceptively simple looking.

Its the kind of product where it makes you take a second look.

And on the second (lingering) look, you get the impression that a lot of attention has been put into its design.

This pad is meant to be used in one of their folios - made of leather and linen.

Very cool looking and great in design.

Its small

Only this size ...

The logo printed on its cover - which is laid paper , (with texture)

The pad is glued onto greycard

My ink test ...

Closer look

top half ..

No feathering whatsoever ...

bottom half ...

The backside of the page ...

top half ...

very good - no bleedthru whatsoever

only shadow , which is to be expected , considering the light coloured (cream) paper

A white piece of paper is placed under the page to help you see how severe (or not) the shadow effect is ...

Not too bad.

This can be simply overcome by placing a black paper underneath as you write.

Bottom half (backside)

very good , no bleedthru at all ...

The contrast against the white copier paper shows you the shade of the Cream coloured paper.

My customary watercolour wash test ...

Closer view ...

backside

the paper warps from wetness - this is to be expected.

but no bleedthru at all ...

I am not sure what is the grammage of the paper , its thinnish - I reckon maybe around 80g or 90g?

It has slight texture, slightly smoother than ordinary copier paper.

Its not smooth like Japanese coated paper like KOKUYO or MARUMAN.

I was impressed with the quality of the paper.

Its not cheap... I paid SGD$16 and this little pad only contains 60 sheets.

But its good paper ...

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
