Lamy Green Review

Ink: Lamy Green

Pens Used: Jinhao x750 (B) and Lamy Safari (M)

Paper: Georgia Pacific Premium Bright Paper (90g/m^2)

This ink is a very nice green, and there is almost no feathering. It has an above average dry time, being almost completely dry around five seconds. I love the package this ink comes in, the nice bottle with the nib blotting paper on the bottom. This is a great standard green, and it is almost the exact shade of green that comes to mind when I think of a green ink. Good flow out of the pen, and almost no bleed through. The ink doesn’t smear, probably due to the great dry time. The lubrication and shading were well below average however, bringing this inks rating down.

On the chemical test, the ink average. It held up very well against the drip test, but the bleach test removed all of the ink. On the dip test, the majority of the ink is gone, but you can still read what was written on the page beforehand.

Thanks, a nice green, "better" than I thought. I don't yet have it but will remedy that soon.

Green is my favorite color and I really wanted to like this because the bottle/price is great but I just couldn't. It's just boring. I can't really explain it better than that. There are so many greens out there and at the end of the day I traded my full, very nifty bottle when Organics Studio was doing their trade. I don't miss it. You can say anything you want about Organics Studio but their bottles are not nifty and their inks are not boring! :)

Thanks for the review.

I agree with Jenks, it is not the most exciting shade of green for me either, but I think it's a good "basic" green for those looking for a common green colour.
And it handles itself particularly well in my opinion, apart from the sadly less than amusing lubrication.

2 Parker Frontiers, 1 Lamy Safari, 1 MB 146, 1 Pilot MR and new friends: M805 in blue and an M 420. Yay!

Current holy grail: Caran d'Ache Leman Bicolor in saffron or possibly white. Not yet sure.

Well, I guess there's an ink for everyone, but this one isn't for me. I bought a bottle of it years ago, on sale, before there were any ink comparisons on the internet. It's quite dry, and a very european green, not much to my liking. I've used it in mixes with other inks.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
