Hakodate Twilight

I'm a sucker for Sailor inks. I feel compelled to hunt down whatever inks they make and sample them all. On this quest, I dug up some inks made by Sailor for a store named Ishida Bungu. I got this ink and have another one on the way. There are three more I'm going to try too, as soon as my next payday rolls around in a week.

Without further ado, here is Hakodate Twilight!

As you guys may or may not know, I love blue inks. BUT ... they need to be exciting in some way. I get bored very quickly, and nothing irritates me more than dull, flat, lifeless ink on a page. Hakodate Twilight isn't like that. It almost feels alive when you look at it.

Part of that has to do with the yummy shading, and the way the colour shifts so dramatically from a lighter blue to a night sky kind of blue. Part of it has to do with the amazing sheen and the richness of the colour.

Many inks have one paper that stands out as the best for the ink, but this ink performs amazingly on all paper, bringing out the shading and sheen each time.

Great review. Awesome shading. Seriously, I hate this type of review. It just forces me to go on and on and buy and buy...

The shading of this ink is wonderful. Thanks for posting the writing samples.

Now if only one could purchase this ink without traveling to Japan, though maybe that would be dangerous and costly. :)

I got this ink through cool-japan on ebay. It is $40 per bottle, shipped to North America. Some people have mentioned that White Rabbit is cheaper, but I haven't used them so I'm not sure.

What I do know is I got a quote from them, and with the shipping to Canada included, it was only a few dollars cheaper per bottle. I like using Atsu from cool-japan because he's super helpful. In fact, when I asked him about some inks, he actually went to the store and took pictures of swabs so that I could choose which ones I wanted. That's worth a few extra dollars per bottle, I think! :)

Thank you. I love your reviews.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I thought I would just share a photo of Hakodate in the daytime here. Hakodate is a sea port surrounded by blue waters on all sides, and is famed for its beautiful night view.
