Noodler's black is my favorite ink, but I agree about the slow dry time.

Proud resident of the least visited state in the nation!

Try diluting it with a bit of distilled water; it significantly decreases the drying time.

Life's too short for bad paper.

Update on the ink's effects on pens: I have emphasized that none of the other pens I use (piston and c/c) have had an issue with this ink, but I have a Parker Vacumatic (the stripey kind) that I used exclusively with this ink for over a year and it appears that the diaphragm went to goo (I just sent the pen in to a repair person). It's possible that the diaphragm was going to go to goo no matter what ink was in it, since I don't know where the pen had been, but my use of this ink may have been a contributing factor.

A unicorn!! Who doesn't love those? Nice review. I feel the same way about Noodler's Black. It's my preferred black that I've learned to use on an array of papers. I have only used it in a Platinum Preppy as I'm not too keen on having it cause problems in my better pens.

I was horse-crazy (equine-crazy?) as a child. :)

Yeah, I've been thinking about investing (heh) in a Preppy myself and that wouldn't be a bad way to go! Right now I'm using the ink in a Sailor HighAce Neo (will not cry if the pen bites it) and a Nakaya Naka-ai (hmm...).

I would probably avoid more saturated inks in Parker Vacs in general (they're so pretty, and feel so fragile that I stick to low maintenance inks when possible) . I use this ink mainly in my modern pens, and right now it's in my Pilot Decimo (F) and I do love using it. Naturally, good pen hygiene also tends to help with any issues that may arise.

Noodler's Black had some flow issues with my Pilot Prera (F). Anyone else run across this? I haven't had problems with any other inks I've put in that pen, including Heart of Darkness and Perle Noire.

I have flow inssues in the form of nib creep when I use this ink in my Lamy Al-Star. I've been told that my nib is most likely too clean and by rubbing the nib while my pen is empty I can avoid this problem!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
