Sailor Kobe #19

The Kobe series of inks is something I discovered a while ago when the amazing Sam_Capote ordered some using a forwarding service. It was super pricey and a pain in the butt to coordinate. But now, an extremely kind and professional person is selling them on ebay for a very reasonable price and super low shipping. So of course, I bought about 18 inks, and of course I've been supremely remiss in posting reviews.

I cannot say enough good things about this ink. I love it! It is so interesting and unique among the inks I've tried previously.

I could ramble on about how well behaved it is, how it is a bit of a chameleon colour, seeming shifting in tone under the light, about how funky the shading is.

But really, the best thing about this ink is the sheen. It's outlining of text only, but the key point is that it is SILVER.

Please click through this picture and this picture, but make sure to enlarge it to it's original size (small magnifying glass in bottom right corner, *twice*).

This ink is an absolute WINNER.

Many more photos in my review album here.

That is indeed an ink that appears (to my inexperienced eye) a rather unique colour. I like greens and this is a good one - thanks for the review

Keeping a personal note of this one! I've never seen silver sheen on any ink before...that is really cool. :D Thanks for all your reviews! (I've been browsing through them, but this one was WOW enough to make me type a reply. Forgive my laziness...^^; )

I've tried a lot of Kobe inks so far, and I think this one is my favourite. I know that's a bold statement, but it's true. :D In fact, my super picky, not at all fountain pen inclined friend was SO enamored by the combo of a TWSBI (M) and this ink, that she is going to buy them for herself and write with it all the time (she says).

I am so sad. cool_japan just sold out of this color on eBay! :bawl:

I guess this is what you get when you wait to pick ALL the perfect colors before buying....

Thanks for the tip~ As long as he's not permanently out of stock, I'll stick around in the background for a bit until I see that EF/F writing sample with #31. ^_~

One of your favorites? I'm going to add this to my list of cool inks to buy.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Given the subtle, gentle green that this is… safe to assume that water carries it right back off the page? If this has any degree of permanence, I'm in for a bunch.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
