Has anyone got information on this collectors pen

Dear Cross Forum Readers - I have in my possession (from the estate of my recently departed mother in-law) a CROSS Century Classic. So what I hear you say. Well - I'm hoping for some help in identifying how this pen got to be the shape it is and what some of the engravings might mean.

 

Firstly (I hope the photo is attached). This is a Made in the USA CROSS CENTURY CLASSIC - it states clearly its 1/20 12KT GOLD FILLED.

 

The head has been adapted and has a very well sculpted President Richard Nixon head attached to the top. This pen has seen some use and although I have not had this pen to be appraised yet - there are one or two indentations on the mounting plate of the head which suggests that the head is in fact solid gold as if it were paint - the paint would surely come off!

 

As well as this - the pen is engraved BING CROSBY on one side and

C.A.S 12-25. 7Z on the other. This latter marking may be 72 rather than a Z but it is a slightly different shape from the other 2's and therefore does look different.

 

Any ideas anyone?????

Where did this come from?

Is it engraved with Bing's name because it belonged to Bing?

Can anyone shed any light or ideas on this pen?

Thanks for that Dillon - maybe it was made for him then by someone to do with Nixon! (Just in case you all think I'm nuts - this is a genuine article and is not a hoax of any kind - easy to say on a forum I suppose! No really - I would like to find out as much information as possible about this pen - would anyone know what happened to Crosby's collection after he died?)

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
