I contacted Cross because I had the same question about this pen item number just this week. They said a 4506 is the Classic Century. It was produced between 1974 and 1987, with it's recommended retail price increasing from $37 to $88 during that time. Its body is 1/20 10kt gold fill and the nib is 14kt gold. I hope this helps.

Now I'm really confused. The pen says 14K gold filled on it and the nib is 14KT 585. The retail tag also says $110 and is attached to the the part that says No.4506.

Maybe the tag doesn't belong to this pen.

It might still be. There was a price tag for $110 marked down to $88 on the 4506 box that I got. My nib is also stamped with a 585. The Cross rep said that the prices she gave me were the catalog prices, but I'm wondering if those were the whole sale catalogs for retailers. Or maybe the retailers were just boosting their prices. You can see pictures of these pens on eBay. And, if you don't mind waiting until later next month to see a picture, I'll be posting mine for sale at www.thepenmarket.com.

I think Falcon may have been referencing the conflict with his pen VS tagging re; model numbers and gold content.

I also called Cross within the past 2 weeks on this same issue. I was told the 4506 was the 10kt Century Classic

while the 1506 was the 14kt. This call was made before my CC1 arrived. While I do not have the price tag in my

box, I do have the model/description tag which agrees with what Cross told me. The 1506 IS the 14kt GF Century

Classic fountian pen. Therefore, I would presume the 4506 is the 10kt model.

PS Mine was used but lightly apparently. It did have some minor mico scratching on the exterior which was all but

eliminated with some Simichrome. FWIW, I paid $65 shipped on Fleabay for mine about 1 week ago.

Cool. That seems to clarify everything. Thanks.
