Does this look like flex-nibbed FP writing?

Hey all,

 

I found this scan on my hard drive while doing a cleanup the past few days. It's the back of a 100 dollar Confederate bill that belonged to a friend of the family. Does that writing look like it was done with a flexible-nibbed fountain pen?

 

Also, I don't know why the back is otherwise blank because the scans I have of 5 & 10 dollar bills were printed on both sides. But that's a whole other matter.

 

I apologize if I've posted this in the wrong spot, but I'm not sure exactly where it'd really fit in.

Hi Pensketcher,

 

it does look like a flexible nib was used, may be with a little too heavy hand.

 

I would also guess it was on a dip pen, rather than a fountain pen.

on a side note... i'm glad not everyone back then wrote with gorgeous handwriting. <_<

Hi Rob,

 

I was guessing dip pen, as some down strokes are very wide and "wet" (such as the R in Rather, first line), while some others as you noted, are dry, even though they seem narrower. Looks more consistent with a dip pen to me, but that could be an FP with an inconsistent flow too.
