Difference Between 1995 Parker Duofold Mandarin Yellow And 2006 Parker Duofold Cloisonné

I hope to add one of the modern Duofold Yellow in my collection.

I come across the 1995 Parker Duofold Mandarin Yellow and 2006 Parker Duofold Cloisonné. I don't like the design of the 2013 Yellow.

Between the 1995 and 2006 Yellow, are they essentially made of the same yellow material ?

Besides the 3 vs 2 cap rings, nib designs, what are the other difference ?

Of the two (1995 and 2006), which one is more collectible ?

What is the market price for the two ?

Thanks

IMHO, the 1995 Mandarin is more collectable since it has unique retro nib design, solid gold ring and the three cap bands (a sign of special edition). The 2006 version, exclude from the yellow color, is nothing special.

They are both beautiful, excellent performing pens made of robust acrylic and take the same type of convertor. The aesthetic details vary and are a matter of personal preference. There are lots of good photos on the internet to check out the design details. I would be happy with either one. (Preferably both. :D)

If memory serves correct, the Mandarin Duofold Centennial came in a limited edition of 10,000 and each pen had a medallion in the box and on the cap top with the pen serial number. The box was more or less a decorated standard Duofold box with a nice interior and the medallion glued to it. It has 3 bands on the cap.

The Duofold Cloisonne came in a limited edition of 3900 and came in a fancy box with a bottle of Penman ink and other frufru marketing stuff. Both the box and pen were numbered to match. The box is quite substantial and made of wood and doubles as a weapon at a pen show. This one has two bands on the cap.

The Mandarin is a sub-1000 pen new old stock and the Cloisonne runs well over a 1000 when complete they are new old stock.

I believe they both have only medium nibs and the nibs are unique to the pens.

Unlike the post elsewhere, I have not seen a shrunk or distorted pen in either series and I have had my share of them. They are not hot selling items and are at every pen show I attend for sale.

San Francisco International Pen Show - The next “Funnest Pen Show” is on schedule for August 23-24-25, 2024.  Watch the show website for registration details.

My PM box is usually full. Just email me: my last name at the google mail address.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
