Black Dorics - Stability Of Cap And Barrel Material

Are black Dorics far less prone to, or immune from, the disintegration common to Doric color cellulloids?

i would say so. i have a black doric (ca. 1930s) that i picked up in 1988 and it hasn't changed one bit since. my other dorics have shown some crazing, otoh.

I don't know conclusively, I can only offer additional data points. I have three black Dorics- none of which have issues. I have also never heard of a black Doric with crystallization issues.

I have one in Kashmir that's pretty stable so far.

Simply put the Black models are more durable, and not prone to crystallization or decomposition as compared to the other colors. I suppose I could post a list of crystallization prone-ness from least to most if thats of any interest.

My four black Wahls have no celluloid degradation, though for reasons unknown they ALL have chew marks
