All of it :puddle: , but those koi alumilites are something. Would be cool to see a pen with icing on the cap & barrel ends & color swirl in the middle.

They're all really attractive looking pens, but I really love the arctic koi alumilite. Nice work!

As usual, beautiful work Renee.

I have been working a lot in dip pens lately, I would love to know how you did the crow quill fitting. Is it an insert, or did you create your own fitting?

Thanks, Darrin. I made my own. It's a brass rod cut and sanded on the end to be smooth. It goes inside about 21mm or so, with about 5 or 6 mm a bit wider at the front of the hole to allow the crow quill nib to slide up inside. I actually used an ebonite sleeve inside to add strength, but I don't think i'll do that again. There are two sizes -- 1/8" for some nibs, and 3mm for others. This is a 1/8th" size.

Renee,

All these pens are heart achingly beautiful. I greatly appreciate your workmanship and thank you for sharing pictures of these beauties with us.

I have a question regarding the Idyll. It seems you have used a standard Pelikan nib unit. Given that these are designed to work with piston mechanisms, have you incorporated that into the Idyll as well?

The pens with Pelikan nibs have to be used as eyedroppers. I don't make piston fillers.

Stunningly gorgeous pens! I'm new to fountain pens and FPN, but I know the kind craftsmanship that I admire. I live just 2-3 hrs north of you and am in Jackson several times a year. Do you have a storefront for viewing and trying some of your pens? Forgive me if I overlooked that info on your website. LOVELY WORK!!

Welcome to Fountain Pens and to FPN! :W2FPN:

It's cool that you live near here. I don't have a storefront. It's all internet. I don't have enough inventory to even have a shop. I ship my pens out as fast as I make them, then it's on to the next order. I've just recently moved my shop from a spare bedroom into my father's old shop out back.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
