Do You Guys Like Exotic Materials? I'm Making Some Neat Stuff ... But There Is Still A Lot To Be Done. Check Out My Progress So Far.

Soon! I wish I had more time this week to get the caps sorted out, but I realized I needed some tools that just showed up yesterday and the rest of my business has been keeping me busy. The perils of being a one man design/machining shop is that when customer service and order fulfillment needs to happen that takes precedence over development of the new products. That said, I think once I get these in some reviewers hands they will see a level of refinement that is hard to find elsewhere.

I can definitely understand that. I love high level machining and fit and finish. Have you ever heard of the Sebenza? That knife does it for me because of the high level tolerances. This pen makes me so excited!

Let me see dat cap!

Fountain pens forever and forever a hundred years fountain pens, all day long forever, forever a hundred times, over and over Fountain Pen Network Adventures dot com!

Sorry about the delay in getting any progress updates. I finished the first two pens last Friday and sent one to Ed Jelley and he took some good photos of it:

The cap is going to be slimmed down a little bit, but that pen is basically the final version. I hope to have the other 20 versions ready in the next couple weeks to show off. The goal is to have the Kickstarter up by the end of the month.

Those photos look amazing! Great work by Ed Jelley in taking those pictures. I'm ready to throw my money at your kickstarter whenever it goes up!

Those who hurt me were not only someone else,

but also those who pretended not to notice. It was my friend.

I think the Polycarbonate and Titanium versions are going to do particularly well, functionally. I can't account for what people want to buy ;) They're definitely in the viable weight range, and aren't as problematic as the Aluminum. And aluminum grip wouldn't be a problem short-term, but I'd be wary of it being a daily driver over years, getting submerged in bottles, etc.

I'm trusting that lay pattern you use is going to make the metal grip a non-issue, but good luck convincing some people. There's a lot of metal-section hate due to 1) slippery grip and 2) cold touch? But there are plenty of plastic sections that are slippery too, especially when they're shaped poorly.

Curious how much slimming down the cap's going to get. It looks pretty slick posted, but when closed the cap/body ridge is pretty distinct. Just an observation.

Will, I have already ordered one pen, since your work seems to me irresistible.

But, considering a second option... I see that in the current website (perhaps not updated?) there is no full-damascus pen, only damascus grips and finials.

Will, do you have in mind a full-damascus version, as seen precisely in your post #24? And, if so, when would it be available?

THANK YOU!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
