Problems Using Novelli's Website

In the last few weeks, I haven't been able to use the "price request" feature from Marco's website. I add the item to my cart and then provide my email address to receive the price quote, but I never get the email with the price quote. I've tried with 3 different email addresses now, and nothing has shown up.

I was able to get Marco's recent newsletters though, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with my mail servers rejecting his emails.

Has anyone else had these issues, or alternatively, been able to successfully receive price quote emails recently?

EDIT: Seems like it's a problem with @gmail.com addresses only. Can anyone else weigh in?

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

I have not had this problem, but I use a different procedure. You can request "availability" and a price quote right from the pen's page. There is a button at the bottom of the table specifying the pen's parameters. Click on it. I have never had to put a pen in my shopping cart to get the info on price.

Good luck.

This is the same method I have used to received price quotes (for well over a year) for pens from Novelli. I also have a "gmail.com" web address & always have received the information. And to prove that it indeed "works" I have recently received my FIRST pen after receiving the former price quotes. I am only sorry I had to wait this long to be able to purchase a pen. I received shipment notice & the pen arrived only THREE days later from Italy (with only his "standard" shipping!)

Doing that just puts the pen request into my shopping cart, from which I still need to provide an email address and wait for the responsive email. Can you provide an example of a pen for the process you speak of?

Right, it's not as if I haven't ordered from Marco before. This problem just started happening within the last month or so. But there's nothing in my spam folders or whatever in gmail. So I'm not sure where the emails are going, if they are being generated by Marco.

Ok, I'll bite. I never had problems receiving the price quotes from Marco in the past, but since it's been a few weeks, I just tried it again. I selected the (MUCH) desired pen and nib choice and clicked on the "get quote" box and it put the quote request in my shopping cart, as it always had before. I clicked over to the cart and was ready to release it from there and I noticed that my email address that pre-filled was spelled wrong (yaho.com ??) I corrected it and got the quote within 30 seconds. Not sure how the typo got in there as I've gotten all my previous quotes/order confirms etc. Hopefully this is just some kind of data migration thing and it goofed on your email address as well.

Now I have to find the willpower not to click "buy now" since the euro keeps dropping!

I had no problems ordering the new burnt orange M800 from the Novelli website, going through the request quote and confirmation process over the past three days.

Check out my blog and my pens

Had a similar problem with a hotmail account. I sent a PM and he graciously resent. The 2nd time it got through. Wasn't in my spam filters either.

Hmm, thanks everyone for the feedback and testing. Seems like some people definitely experience this problem while others do not. Interesting...

I just attempted to do as you requested. Novelli's procedure has changed since I had used it last. It is now as you described in the original post. I received an email from Novelli almost instantaneously following my request.

  • 2 weeks later...

This thread led to a box waiting for me at the local FedEx! Inside was a beautiful Omas Ogiva Vintage in Scarlet Red. Marco responded quickly to my purchase and a follow up email agreeing to my request for the 14K EF flexible nib that was not listed on the website. Shipping was very reasonable and only took a week to get to Missouri.

Marco has been very accommodating of my nib requests. If he doesn't have what I'm looking for, he seems to have no trouble obtaining one from Omas. Like you, I have all high-value items sent to FedEx for secure hold until I can get by to collect it.

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
