Warranted Platon Nibs

Anyone with any experience or info with these nibs?

I don't know about "platon", but usually if it says "Warranted 14K" that's just a stamp that was usually placed on unbranded/generic nibs to state that they 'warrant' that the material is 14K Gold. Essentially generic.

 

But I'm not seeing any "14K" on those nibs, I'm guessing *maybe* gold plated steel at best. As far as what pen they could go in, you might have to take some measurements and look around. (The "<2>" isn't that useful since different manufactures had different numbers for different sizes).

It has "Hardest Iridium" printed on there too.

Which doesn't mean much as a lot of generics say "Iridium Point Germany".

 

Platon Hardest Iridium Warranted nibs appear to be steel generic nibs produced in Japan.

Have had a few of these, most of them made of steel and with the steel color finish. The ones I got were already used (or abused perhaps!), made in Japan and came installed in vintage Japanese pens from the 1950s. They had fairly slim and long tines, but they were barely flexible. Some of those nibs came with one tine already broken off, and did not look like a high quality vintage 14k nib to me.

I was thinking maybe, just maybe because the tines look so long, it would be at least soft.
