Once there was a time, when Pelikan Milan gave away a pen in a particular embodiment. The fountain pen is engraved with the initials of the recipient and was not intended for sale. (Presumably the recipients were traders who should be honored for their long-term cooperation with Pelikan.)

The fountain pen was delivered in a box that was designed to appear old. There is no label attached on the bottom , which describes the contents of the box. In the box was, other than the pen and an inkwell, a list with the following text (Italian translated):

Fountain pen M150

a special version

with gold nib 12 K - bicolor

Limited Edition

Not for sale to the public

Warranty Pelikan

The fountain pen carries a label on the clip marked M150.

The surprise, however, was great when I held the pen in my hands: it was not a M150, but a M481. The size and all other features matched.

Just what happened at Pelikan Milan? It will probably never be resolved, but we can only guess. In 1983, the M481 has been prepared for export only as a precursor of the M200, there was the model 481, which was also known as M150 (481). Were two people approached at Pelikan, each with different information on the delivery of the fountain pen?

Very nice find. Definitely looks to be an M481. Interesting that it was paired with a 12C nib, somewhat unusual in its own right. That's definitely a keeper.
