Louis Vuitton Ink

Someone asked about Louis Vuitton Ink.

It comes is a bottle reminiscent of the J. Herbin 1670 ink except the mouth is much wider. The bottle is quite nice and the cap had the LV logo stamped frequently. It is very nice. You can see pics on The LV site and Marcuslinks.

I bought several bottles and here some swatches....

The ink has a real antique quality about it. It is very European and very sophisticated. Lots of shading it has not lots of saturation. I like it but it is very expensive. That said, I have to believe it is made by someone like J. Herbin. It has some very premium qualities, but it won't be for everyone. Like I said at 52.00 it is the priciest ink out there, that is for 50ml. And that is just 3 of the colors they have plenty of other soft fall and antique pallet chooses......

Thank you for sharing.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It's an ink from a company that has nothing to do with fountain pens. i would pay that much for iroshizuku, but I think that $30 of that price goes into the name.

Hmm, the fact that the bottle is reminiscent of the 1670 ones kinda gives that away, huh OP? That these might very well be manufactured by J. Herbin, that is.

But yeah, the colours look nice, but for that much money I think I'd prefer getting something a bit more exciting; using Herbin inks, for what they cost, is already pushing it a bit for my standards. Still, these are nice scans, and they do kinda, in a minor, only vaguely convincing sorta way, justify the look (though you could probably just mess around with a few Herbin inks to try and imitate the colour?).

By the by, might I make a request for a shot of the bottles you have? Thanks!

Here are the ink bottles, the pic doesn't capture the cap, but the louis site does....

It is a very subdued palette, elegant, but subdued. I'm guessing Herbin, but honestly it isn't as watery as a lot of the base inks. All that said. if someone is looking for saturated inks this isn't it. And it is very expensive. Marcus likes it, and I like the brun thus far. The brun has a very interesting quality and some shading, dries to a very nice sepia. But who knows.

Dang...I don't know if I can spend $50+ on a bottle of ink...I thought pilot iroshizuku is pretty expensive, however I feel the cost is justified somewhat because the quality of the ink is just incredible, but that's just a bit too much for me and probably to the general public. That's an entire another pen that I can purchase instead :P. Colors look beautiful though! Thanks for sharing, I didn't even know Louis Vuitton even make fountain pen inks haha.

They look to me like the old Caran inks.

I know in my lousy pic they do, but not in the hand. The old Caran bottle was slightly heavier and not as much depth. You got me to climb into the cabi for inks, it is the same size and bottle as 1670 just bigger mouth and more subtle packaging. The bad part for me is they are family members Bleu and 1670 blue. 1670 may have more red and pinks while bleu has some turquoise and some decided shading, but they do appear close enough to be distend cousins. The bottle though is a 50ml same size just wider mouth.....
