M3 Damascus Steel

This pen is made from M3 metal composite in the Damascus Steel style. It turns quite nicely but is a bit powdery. This made the threading a bit loose, but it is a strong material. For a custom pen it is fairly weighty due to the high metal content of the composite. The stuff is expensive too! The centre band is made from sterling silver, and it is fitted with a JoWo nib. Cartridge converter.

C&C's welcome.

That is one awesome pen. I know how blades are made using the Damascus steel process, but how do you use it to create a cylindrical pen. I would definitely like to watch that. Beautiful work - imo!

BTW, compared to some of the pens reviewed here, the weight is not that much.

Is this pen for sale? Where? Any idea of the price?

A grey day is really a silver one that needs Your polish!

Thank you!

The material is a composite. Here is an extract from the details provided by the manufacturer:

M3, short for Macro-Molecular Materials are part of the new breed of new age designer materials that make everything from the Stealth Bomber to the International Space Station possible. These materials are made with high purity metals and other exotic elements that have been deconstructed to the macro-molecular level, homogenously combined and then reconstructed with highly refined proprietary chemical binders.

That is a great looking material! Does it feel cold to the touch initially like metal pens do?

Have to admit, I've never really been taken by those M3 metal composites. But I know that many others absolutely love it.

The pen shape and trim is absolutely gorgeous - very much in keeping with your usual :) Beautiful work!

The clip shape is really nice. It goes brilliantly with the shape and color of the pen.

looks very original and nice

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
