Anyone Heard Of The Brand "james"?!

I got these marble pattern pens recently from everyone's favourite online auction site. Nice little pens, and they still have their price stickers on. French ones...they're all in Francs! Not much info on the pens themselves. One appears to be a push button filler and the other two are levers.

The lever pens are identical apart from the colour, and both have gold coloured nibs with "James" engraved closest to the breather hole, followed by "INOX", something that looks like "P?? iridius" (the question marks i can't make out without magnification, which I don't have with me), and then "95" in an oblong box shape.

The barrels are marked with what I presume is the brand name "James" stamped in a sort of handwriting style. The blue and grey lever pens also has "52AC" close to the barrel tip, while the green pen has what I think is "41" stamped into it. I'm guessing these are model numbers.

Anyone seen anything like these before, or know anything about the brand?

Looks like vintage French pens. I dont know about these pens, but, have alerted one of French friends, who is an avid collector and very knowledgeable. He should post a reply soon.

Thanks Wolverine...I'd love to find out a bit more if I can as they appear to be decent quality, and the two lever fillers look to be in the general 50s style. The green button filler looks like it might be slightly older, or at least an older style...and it looks to be more of a premium model (nicer looking nib and tipping finish, more of a plush looking sheen to the barrel/cap material, better appointments to the decoration etc.).

Good joke Leod :roflmho: It's either that or I've found James Dean's long lost French pen stash!!!

Those pens look delicious. Could the "INOX" be related to Inoxcrom?

In this context it probably just means "inoxidable", i.e., stainless steel.

Thanks :vbg: I'm really pleased with them, and I like the fact that the sections on all three are screw-in rather than push fit. Makes changing the sacs much easier. Got to hand it to the French here...a lovely looking set of pens and good design too.

You might be right on the meaning of INOX. The green pen looks to have a solid 14ct nib with a maybe a medium rounded tipping. The other two could only be gold plated, and have longer and more square tipping.

Ooh...one question I do have, although it might be one for the repair section:

The trim on the cheaper pens has some small light surface rusting spots, which I assume is probably in the chrome plating more than anything. Is it best to leave this as-is or can it be possible to clean these up?
