Kaweco 113?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have come across a beutiful black and gold fp branded Svanströms Quality Pen, a swedish brand. The pen is definitely an imported pen rebranded by Svanströms, it has the Kaweco logo on the clip and everything. It also says 113 on the body. My question is what Kaweco model it is and when it was made?

It is a great pen for writing, lotsw of iridium on the tip=). The nib says Valiard (or something like that) and England, any info about that?

By the way, it's a piston filler.

Looking in my Lambrou book, it resembles the Transparent 3000 from 1950, more than any other. The single cap ring also. So some variant of the 3000.

The Dia from 1948 has a slightly pointed blind cap.

I am not a Kawaco expert. I only have a Kawaco-Mercedes, with a nib marked Mercedes.

Mercedes pens were made by a man who learned by MB and quit to start his own pen company.

I have a second Mercedes pen....a 30 degree OF.

I am very happy that I just took a few seconds more on that Kawaco-Mercedes nib. I'd thought it semi-flex.

 It is at least Slightly Flexible.

It seems to be between that and Full Flexible, in it's tines spreads 4X. It will Rail-Road Track.

OK...full flexible. :roflmho:

I'm careless with my nibs...and or I learn slow. I've found a number of my nibs were 'better' than I thought, when I took the pen I'd had for a while and scribbled because it was mentioned.

Thanks a lot for you reply, this pen actually has no blind cap, on the end of the pen there is a twistable knob whithout a cap on and that knob is indeed somewhat pointy, even though it can't be seen in the photos. Somewhere around 1950 seems to be a probable date then=)

Mine don't have a blind cap either, but I tend to call the end cap a blind cap.

It's a mid 1930's-early '38 pen I think, Black Chased Rubber.

I'm missing a brass ring, but will go to my goldsmith and have her make me one...some day. I also have a few pens that need a bit of the gold put back into some one's name.

Got to get some of the better black rubber dye too. It's end caps are green with age.

Down the road, I'll get a couple more Kawaco's. They start to intrigue me.

well, by blind cap, he's referring to the filler knob. some of us use the terms interchangeably, whether that's right or not...

I just realized it has real cork...and must always be wet, so I cleaned the little of the Pelikan Blue Black that was in it, and re-loaded with Waterman South Sea Blue.

Good thing I store it nib up. Good thing the last owner kept it inked.

......

The nib is perhaps not Full Flex after all, I don't get the full handlebar mustache Capitol L, just close...and I don't get the sidewinder rattle snake S.

It's a nice S, but not quite 'fat' enough in the middle.

Still, I'm happy with the nib, it's more than what I thought it to be originally. :happyberet:

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
