FS: Pistol-Shaped Inkwell, Dip-Pen & PCL Combo!

Greetings from DocNib's PenEmporium! Here's an unusual item from around just before the turn of the century (before 1900, that is!)...a combination inkwell, dip-pen, double-ended PCL, eraser & leads in the shape of a pistol. Very Cool!

The handle is made out of a polished hardwood, the chamber is made out of brass and the rest of the metal appears to be a combination of steel and/or plated brass. The barrel is actually a spring-loaded mechanical PCL & pops out when you pull the trigger (like a bullet being fired!) & when taken apart, has an old hardwood & graphite pencil in the fitting. Attached to the bottom of the handle is a small ring which pulls out & has a reversible dip-pen inside of it.

 

When the "gun" is taken apart (unscrew the barrel & pivot the chamber cover open), which is kind of like breaking down a real one, you have inside the chamber an eraser, a glass vial w/spare leads and a metal & glass inkwell with a metal screw-on lid & bullet-shaped cover...all the accoutrements for writing along with a novel shaped holder. Again, VERY COOL! The overall condition is very good with minor wear & brassing on the metalwork and the wood handle is nice & smooth with a great patina to it...
