My Ink Scans

Will

Recommended Posts

Thought I would put up all my inks on a scan (other than the Private Reserve ones my daughter has). Some of the Diamine inks are from cartridges rather than bottled ink. The paper used was Clairefontaine.

Now that's an interresting post. That gives a great chance to see how inks compare and how much shading some of them have (which i dreadfully hate, especially on those blacks) because of the broad nibs. That is an oustanding piece of work you got there and that rainbow you made is great, cheers to your work.

Great job on saving me money !

Can't wait for and update with the PR bottles ! :P

OUTSTANDING Scan!!! On my screen, the colors pretty much match perfectly with the inks I have of the same color.

 I love your palette! Congratulations for your pied and remarkable collection!!! :clap1:

I second blopplop about the accuracy of the colors (eight of yours in my collection)! Great work!

I like to see your "dusty purples" choice: I also have Storm, Poussière de Lune and Damson, and I love them! It seems to me that this last one does not have much success, and few people talk about it..probably due to tha fact that it's so dark, but I have to admit that it's one of my favourite daily inks, and recently won the first run in my new Aurora Optima :D

Thank you very much!

Saluti.

Thank you for such care and dedication - your scans are a great help - and I have to admit to owning quite a few of the colours you show!

Damson is indeed a very grown up colour - deep and mysterious!

Thank you for taking the time and effort to post this! Your color scan is perfectly matched to the actual ink colors and I especially like that you put the colors from darkest to lightest. Very helpful post!

Will, what a great post! Colors match perfectly on the scan to the colors of several of these I own. This is a good, quick way to see the swab and a writing example.

Thanks!

Thank you all for the kind comments. I always find it easier to judge an ink by putting it next to one I already know. The list helps me at home to decide the mood that I'm feeling in and what I want to express. I seem to go through seasons of a colour.

Thank you for taking the time to do this. It is a most useful chart. Am always surprised to see how many inks there are. Your scan has answered several questions for me. I appreciate it.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

Thanks much. These posts are always appreciated. I need to do one this summer sometime.

Really nice color choices, too.

Great job! As others have said, very true to the colours I've got, as well.

I love that Stipula Verde Muschatio. I'm going to have to track down a bottle. And I'm always startled at how red Waterman Havana is amongst other browns.

Thanks,

Ryan.

This is fabulous! Thank you so much for doing this. I just love the Damson! I already have Wampum, so I'll have to wait until I get through that before I buy it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
