I'm surprised you've never tried it. It really is one of those staple-types (for me anyway). If you like DC-Super blue, you'll like it.

If you don't want to shell out for the V Bottle (they're expensive, and if they're not made of glass they're just not worth it), you can buy a plastic 50 mL bottle for about... $7, if I can remember correctly. You should get the ink! I was apprehensive about it too, and didn't want to buy it, but a bottle came with my Visconti Wall Street, and I'm regretting not buying the ink before they sold out of the glass bottles.

I love Visconti ink :)

Yes, but peartreepens and the writing desk are always out of stock of the 5o mL bottle

Then try Swisher Pens. They always seem to have stock

I've bought it several times from Swisher's and in the LA area the Fountain Pen Shop in Monrovia has it.

I tend to avoid the US retailers as shipping is high.

This kinda reminds me of Private Reserve - Tropical Blue. I might need to take a look at it and compare the two!

Currently inked pens:

  • Pelikan M205 Amethyst [F] (Noodler's Manhattan Blue)
  • Shaeffer PFM II Blue (Private Reserve Naples Blue)
  • Lamy 2000 [binder Italifine 0.7/0.5] (J. Herbin Vert Empire)
  • Waterman Ideal N° 01855 (Noodler's Walnut)
  • Pilot Vanishing Point Mustard [binder Stub Italic 0.6] (Noodler's Walnut)

Is this a "lapis" blue?

Look here

I use this ink in my Kaweco Sport, the colour is similar to this :notworthy1:

I have never tried the Visconti Blue, but since I've read all these reviews I will definitely have to try it. We don't have a local supplier here in Morehead, KY so I will try to obtain some on-line. Thanks to all for your input.

Sincerely,

Raymond

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
