Sheaffer School Pens plus one Scripto

When I rekindled my love of fountain pens, I began by buying every example I could find of pens I already knew about. I pounced on some No Nonsense pens, scooped up Esterbrooks, and learned (to my surprise) that Sheaffer school pens were no longer in production, and harder to come by than I expected. I bought a dozen or so, whenever I could obtain them for a plausible price.

Now that I've discovered other pens to love (also), it's time for me to deacquisition most of my school pens.

All are liable to have spots of corrosion inside the cap, on the section, and the friction ring (photos show this clearly). I have dipped these, but not installed any cartridges; dip-testing shows all to write, with the opaque green and translucent red pens giving the smoothest, wettest lines of the group. Prices for these seem to bounce around, depending on how many have been offered how recently, and who's entering the market. I'll offer these at $10 each with CONUS shipping. Paypal preferred.

First PM with a firm "I'll buy it" will get the pen. I'll indicate pens on hold, and mark off the ones that have sold as soon as I receive payment.

SOLD! -- First, Sheaffer with a translucent red body, with rounded ends. The nib is marked "M," but the line was indistinguishable from the line written by the "F" opaque green below.

Second, a Sheaffer with an opaque black body, with the flattened-conical ends. This pen with an "F" nib wrote with a fine line.

Third, a Sheaffer with a translucent green body, conical ends (those are water droplets visible in the body; it hadn't quite dried out when I shot the picture). The "F" nib writes with a dry, fine line, with a leetle bit of tooth.

SOLD! Fourth, a Sheaffer with an opaque dark green body and severely flat ends. This "F" nib wrote with a lovely smooth, wet line.

Finally, a Scripto with tapered rounded ends, dark blue-gray body. I don't think you can easily get cartridges for this pen; I'd suggest experimenting with it as an eyedropper. It writes with a fine, dry line, and a slight problem with the nib results in definite toothiness.

If you encourage me by buying these pens, I'll probably buy more pens further along the food chain; then I'll have to sell more, so it's in your own interest to support my pen habit. Thanks for your time and attention!

I've sent you a PM asking to buy the red one.

I think I had one exactly like that back in high school. Just looking at the photo makes me nostalgic.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
