Einstein's fountain pen

From what Bablefish tells me, he used this pen between 1912-1921 so it would have been used around the time he was working on the General Theory of Relativity.

 

The box says it is a Waterman Ideal.

 

Can anyone tell me what the second implement is in the picture? it is between the pen and the box.

There is no information on the second item on that page, so it doesn't really help to be a Dutch reader.

 

However, from what I can make out from the picture it is a tapered cap, possibly with a third party add-on clip.

 

I didn't know Waterman made tapered caps in those days, so that is a quite interesting one.

 

Maybe one of the historians here can say something about this.

I've got a pic of Einstein from a MB brochure and he isn't writing with a Duofold!
