Beautiful pictures! I just received my Pilot VP in the mail this afternoon. Mine is black with the gold trim and the medium nib. I inked it up with Swisher's Noodler's black and it writes like a dream.

What size nib did you get on yours?

Regards,

Jerry

nice pics and write up of the out of the box experience.

One question that I can't tell from the pictures. Is the Vanishing Point yellow a bright Corvette yellow like the Safari or is it more the orangish mustard yellow

thanks.

the yellow is definitely a pure yellow, nice and bright. not pastel, not mustard. no trace of orange. when I hold it in my hand, I certainly think of corvette yellow, nice and bright! in fact, I just ran out to the garage; the pen makes my yellow Mazda RX-8 look like a greenish yellow in comparison!

it's almost like taking RGB sliders in the gimp or photoshop and cranking the red and green all the way up and taking blue down to 0. (actually the green would be not quite turned up all the way and the blue not quite 0, but you get the idea).

next time I see a yellow Porsche, I'll be chasing it down to see how my pen compares to Speed Yellow :notworthy1:

In answer to your question on the linked site, 税抜 is "not including tax", btw. Presumably there's a price on the other side of the tag?

Here are some pics comparing different VP yellows.

cool comparison shots. Mine is definitely the "US Yellow", as expected.

btw, I saw a yellow Porsche 928 in a parking lot today! the Porsche was definitely a brighter yellow than my pen; the car made my pen look darker, just like the Limited Edition Mandarin Yellow makes the "US Yellow" look darker.

Thanks. The other side looks nearly identical to that side; the only difference is instead of the Japanese characters, it says "JAPAN".

caric, thanks for the explanation on the color.

Siv, thanks for the link, but you're a bad influence. :P I want one of the deep yellow or Japan LE Orange versions of this pen now.

Not to hijack the thread, but are all VPs supposed to come with the metal cartridge cover? My Yellow VP arrived with two cartridges and no metal cover. Beautiful pen, by the way - I have to keep telling myself to resist the temptation to continually click it!

my understanding is it is supposed to come with the metal cover; without that, cartridges don't work well.

Just got a new toy. I kind of liked the idea of taking pictures of everything as I opened it, and then I thought I would post the pictures here in case anyone wanted to see them.
