Hi NS,

Wow, that looks neat! I haven't seen this colour before, only heard people talk about it. I love it.

Ok, ok, now I have to calm down again. I'm currently so over budget I shouldn't even buy more inks right now... :D

BTW, you have been quite active, while I was asleep... WOW. 3 kazillion posts down the line, and here I am, trying to play catch-up again  .

Kind regards,

Wim

Haha, I hear ya. I just scanned in a buttload of images last night and I put them on my jump drive and brought it to work. Thats when I uploaded it to here. The hardest thing was to give a funny topic description. I enjoy doing this but I am afraid that I am running low on inks to post!!! Its good to get the discussing going on here. I hate a non active fourm!!!

Well I'm heavily into the ink, so I've had a great time these past few days seeing all the reviews. :D I have PR Copperburst which I have never even opened. Well, technically, I *couldn't* open the bottle, so I put it aside, and now I don't know where it is. This was before Christmas.... Me disorganized, nah.... :bonk:

Can anybody tell me how this discontinued Sheaffer "Kings gold" compares to the new plain Sheaffer "gold"?

Thank you.

If memory serves, the current Sheaffer Gold is much more bright yellow, and the King's Gold has amber/caramel hints to it. I like it much better, and am hoarding the last bottle or two I picked up.

To second Andrew's post the PR shoreline Gold is a reasonable substitute. There's always OMAS Saffron or Delta yellow if you need to get a yellow fix! ;)

It is NOTHING like the NOS Kings gold. It isn't even suitable for writing, but can be a good mixing ink.

I'm also a fan of the old Kings Gold.

Just curious - anyone know how Diamine Amber compares (think its a test color? It's sold at Pendemonium)?? It looks similar on my screen...

:bunny1: Good news!! :bunny1:

For anyone that would like some of this ink in his or her collection. I was able to find a store with may be 3 more bottles of NOS Sheaffers Kings Gold.

Best to just call and ask. Very nice people, but they do not have a very good web site.

No affiliation, just a happy customer passing on the word. :D

Ooooh, I love the look of that colour, shame it's discontinued. I might have to investigate the PR Shoreline Gold that's been mentioned.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
