Vintage Hard rubber New-Old-Stock button filler FP

Hi, I listed these last month and they sold like mad (30 in 3 days!). I still have more and have been getting more orders from past buyers so I'll list them again now.

I have 10 dozen of these very neat new-old-stock button filler ebonite (hard rubber) fountain pens to sell. These are a heck of a deal. They are NOS from the 1960's. Made in China by the "China Goverment Pen Company" according to the label. The brand is "Long Life". They are made of black hard rubber (ebonite) with chrome trim. They have a steel fine nib and are a button filler. I inked one up and it reminds me of an Esterbrook with a fine nib. Fills and writes well. Where could you ever find a hard rubber button filler for only $13.00 including shipping in the USA and Canada!! Yes, that's the price! These are in as found condition. This means they will need to be polished up a bit and there could be minor age marks on the chrome. The sac will very likely need to be replaced due to age. So expect to put in a new sac, it's an easy repair. The section unscrews easy and it's a simple repair. Price is $13.00 each shipped in the USA or Canada. $100.00 for box of 12. $16.00 each 1st class mail outside the US and Canada. The bottom photo shows what the front of the box looks like. You can just paypal me at speerbob@starpower.net. Mention on the payment what it is for. I have plenty but if it makes you feel better Email me at speerbob@starpower.net. Cheers, BOB

Bump, for a good man, Charlie Brown! No affiliation--but several great eBay deals from Bob.

I bought two of these from Bob just before he put up this ad. He's the type of guy who made contact on a Saturday when I ordered to let me know he wouldn't be able to send the item out until Monday afternoon because he was out traveling (seeing his mom, if I recall). I got my pens today. True to his evaluation, one clearly has a bad sac. The other? I'll give it a bath tonight and possibly fill it with some low-stakes ink like Parker Quink Washable Blue if all seems well. I think the Esterbrook comparison is a pretty apt one from the physical appearance and feel of the pen.

I wonder if I should have bought more...

Second the praise for speerbob.

Jimmy James, could you tell me how long the pen is with the cap posted? Thanks.

If I find a ruler in this home of mine (not sure I have one), I will. The pen is right at the length of a Esterbrook Transitional J with its cap on if that's a help.

I bought one from Bob (who's a great guy & very helpful) as well and it's a neat little pen. The length of mine posted is just a hair under 6".

Glad you all liked them. They are a really cool pen, and you cannot beat the price. Several people have asked what size sac they take. I have used a #16 and it fits just right. Cheers, BOB

I have two of these from Speerbob. They both need a sac, but after dipping them, they seem to be good writers.

The funny thing is that they are both completely different top to bottom.

The nibs are different, the clips are slightly different, and even the length and width differ slightly.

Almost like they were made from scratch each time.

I will eventually get them resac'ed.

He has good stuff (I bought a Pelikan P18 from him that seemed to be a little past its prime. I found a converter for it, gave it a nice bath overnight, and now it is an incredible writer).

Hey Doug, thanks for the review. Great pen for the price. I have one I have been using for a week now and from my hand and pocket the ebonite has shined up really nice. I love the smell of ebonite in the morning! I sold 35 so far but still have plenty more. Cheers, BOB

  • 2 weeks later...

Just received mine, and the lenght is 5-1/8" capped, 6-1/8" posted, and about 4-5/8" from the tip of the nib to the barrel end with the cap off.

Girth is about 15/32" (just shy of 1/2").

The size is comparable to an Esterbrook J. The weight seems a tad heavier - probably due to it being HR as opposed to celluloid.

Easy to get the nib section off. Resac should be super easy, and with any luck I can get to it soon.

Thanks for the super customer service and delivery as well speerbob.
