A German pen with an 18kt nib, the Senator President is a replica of a 1950s pen from this company.

Senators are great pens - the Windsor and Regent cheapies are really nice little piston fillers.

Is this a piston-filler. Is it still in production?

Wonderful pics as always, Kelvin. These make this pen look better than I've ever seen it anywhere! Can you tell us a little bit about the pen as a writer?

Again, very nice pictures. Wow, this is a great looking pen, reminds me a a Montblanc. Please do let us know how this pen feels in the hand and what type of filling device this has.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks :)

The Senator President is still in production. There are 2 versions... one with a 14kt iridium tipped nib and the other is 18kt (which is the one I bought). Both look the same but the 14kt one is much cheaper (almost half the price). Yes it's very reminiscent of a 149.

It's a piston filler. you can see that the barrel has translucent slits to eyeball the ink level. The gills are supposedly made of ebonite.

The pen fits well in my hands... I like large pens and it's about the size of a 149 or M1000. The nib is smooth (mine is M) and that was what prompted me to buy the pen as I was impressed with the feel of the pen vs the price point.

If you don't mind me asking, I have a few questions:

1. Who sells Senators today?

2. Where can I see pics on-line?

3. How much does the President go for?

Thanks,

southpaw

Hi here's a link to the US website

Link to Senator USA website

They only seem to list the 14kt iridium nib version though. Mine is the 18kt nib. My dealer just received them but he has not listed it on their website yet so I'm not sure what the website price will be. I bought it direct from him. We're both in Malaysia.

His website is Pengallery

It's not on his website yet but should be up soon I guess.

At present, the cheaper version seems to have a steel nib which is gold plated. I wonder if earlier President pens had 14 K nibs ?

I have one of those pens.

I haven't found any information about the reason of the name...if it had been used by a president, they would advertise it .

I think that the name is just a marketing tool ... :)

Wow! This is some of the best pen photography I have ever seen on the internet. The photo of the nib on the President pen is impeccable! Great piece of work. The Senator pens, in my opinion, have no peer!
