The Write Pen, Repair Services

Hello all,

I saw recently a website called thewritepen.net advertising fountain pen repair services. Had anyone here had any experiences with him? I've been gathering quite a pile of pens needing repairs more complicated than I wish to tackle.

Thanks. Sean R

Yes, indeed! Danny Fudge is the principal there. He has restored several for me. His prices are extremely reasonable and his turnaround is usually fast. I'm not sure if he is into grinding nibs and that sort of thing. I trusted him with a new old stock Conway Stewart model 58 and he got it back in service and in showroom condition.

"how do I know what I think until I write it down?"

Danny did a Parker 51 Vac and a Sheaffer PFM for me last year. He does excellent work, is very pleasant to interact with, is reasonably priced, and his turnaround is fast. I definitely recommend him highly.

I have used many different pen technicians (the word nibmeister irritates me for some reason) to work on my pens, including repairs, tuning, and nib grinding. Mt Fudges is one of my favorites. Very pleasant work with, does high quality work with a fast turn around at very favorable prices.

I expect his turnaround times will stretch the other elements of his business will make him more and more popular as people use his services.

Danny's repaired a couple dozen of my Vacs and other pens over the past seven years or so. Great guy and great service. Fast and inexpensive.

Highest recommendation.

I had him repair a couple of pens at the 2013 Ohio Pen show. I was hoping he'd be there again last fall. Absolutely reputable. Also, less expensive than some of the other people I've dealt with (who were also, BTW, good to deal with).

He restored a little lever filler for me. His turnaround time was very quick. He was a nice guy--good communication all the way.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
