This has become my favourite grey. Perfect for writing with and EXCELLENT for mixing, especially as it is so waterproof.

Thank you for doing the review. I've learned to appreciate grey inks as something more than watered-down black. I see this one must have some blue in it.

I was excited to try this ink, but for me it feathers on almost everything. The only thing it didn't feather on was Strathmore 80 lb. drawing paper. I haven't had anything feather so badly on Rhodia. I wonder if the bottle I got is from a bad batch.

I tried it this week with a very wet Waterman 52. This is 1:1 dilution because it came out too dark with this wet nib. There is a lot of shading!

i too use it for ink mixing. i am a fan of grey colors, but when it comes to everyday writing i prefer a darker tone of grey, hence the use of it for mixing. i find it perfect to be mixed with noodler's black, so i could get that dark charcoal grey tone to the ink color.

Very disappointing. Apparently I got one of the bad batches, I have never had an ink feather so much. I notified the manufacturer they said basically "tough luck". I joined this site just to warn others away from this ink. You can have mine if you want it.

 

This is why I steer clear of Noodler's anymore. I have several bottles of Noodler's inks, they're inexpensive and have a wide variety of colors and characteristics to choose from (which is why they're so popular I'm sure) BUT they're inconsistent. I bought a sample of Noodler's Navy at one point, fell in love with the color and bought a full bottle only to find that they weren't even remotely the same color.

I had the same exact experience, except I didn't bother contacting noodlers.

I didn't know Noodler's after-sale support is non existent... Well, I'll stay away from it now.

I find Lex Grey bottle needs agitation before filling the pen cos something in it settles causing a colour change and ink bleed. Otherwise it's a great ink, it's a favourite among urban sketchers for many years. I don't think it would have earned that rep without merit.
