Happy Thanksgiving FPN

 

Attached is the 1789 Thanksgiving Day Proclamation by President George Washington - with a sample of the hand-written original document (letter & A4 formats).

 

References on ths topic are included in the attached .pdf's both from the United States Library of Congress (authoritative) and Wikipedia.

 

It is interesting to see the product of the original hand that wrote this proclamation, as well as what may be George Washington's signature. I just wish the Library of Congress would provide a higher resolution image.

 

The most important thing here though, as we give thanks, is to read an ponder the written words in this proclamation. Profound indeed.

 

Those who are Scholars of U.S. History are welcome to refine this topic.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
