It should be as easy for the Shanghai factory to put "Esterbrook" on a pen, as "Parker" on a pen.

I will wait and see.

^^^ Which makes me wonder why no one with their ear to the ground has heard of this.

Knockoff, or licencing deal with the estate?

Yea I'm wondering as well, if it's just naming rights sold and has no relation to the original either in design or product.

And if it is a knockoff, has esterbrook as in the brand been so dead that there would be no repercussion?

Yet another Chinese version of a brand name pen. Ersatz is ersatz. Replacing "Cross" with "Esterbrook?"

I'm staying away from the looking glass.

Edit to fix quotes.

Hmm, interesting. I'm trying not to be too optimistic since Esties have an excellent reputation in FPdom (have yet to own one, but there wouldn't be as large a cult following if they weren't any good, no?)— should this turn out to be another Chinese rebrand as stated above, then... yeah, it'd suck.

Still, I'll be looking forward to seeing feedback. If things are okay, then I'll probably nab one for myself :P

Cheers!

Could be very exciting. Of course there are Chinese Chiltons etc. that have nothing whatever to do with the original company but this is sounding a bit different.

Poking around on the web I found that Harpen Brand Holdings of West Long Branch New Jersey does indeed hold the Esterbook trademark and is offering fountain and ballpoint pens under this brand. so the plot thickens.

How interesting! The website doesn't have much info. I hope their new pens will be just as small size and lightweight (which is my current preference).

Do you think they'll revive the lever fill? Or will they choose a more popular modern filling style?

"Robert Rosenberg" doesn't sound very Chinese. One of my 9yr old's teachers is a Rosenberg and he is far from being Chinese.

Found Rosenberg on Linked-in. He was the founder and President of Conklin. If I recall correctly Conklin now belongs to Yafa. It looks like he's no longer with Harpen. He is an FPN member.

It wouldn't be the first time someone used fake information to register a domain.

If this is legit, I hope the pics are not examples of what they will offer. They're hideous and don't hearken back to vintage Estes in any way.

I don't believe that technically, it was defunct for 40 years. Berol owned the Esterbrook name for a good portion of that time.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
