Comparison Of 48 Greens

Hi,

I'd like to present the comparison of 48 green inks.

I like green inks and I use them quite often. Maybe not as often as browns but I enjoy them a lot.

I've made long introduction to this comparison on polish fountain pen forum but here I'll keep it simple and just say one thing: enjoy :)

If you like this comparison feel free to comment or to indicate your favourite greens.

PART 4

SUMMARY

I'm glad that I don't have to choose only one green ink to use. It would be extremely hard to choose just one. If I had to choose I would choose betweeen Graf von Faber Castell Moss Green and Nicpoń's Zielony Sosnowy (Pine Green). But then there's so much more greens that I need in my rotation: Olde Emerald by Franklin-Christoph, Alt-Goldgrun by Rohrer & Klingner, Amazon by Caran d'Ache, Irish Green by Montbland Chiku-Rin by Pilot.

I like most of greens. There are however exceptions. And these exceptions - inks that I dislike are: Green - Parker (it's ugly, worst green ever; well maybe not worst, Sheaffer's green is even worse), Uranium - Organics Studio (ugly as well), Zielony Trawiasty (grass green) - Nicpoń (meh) and Smaragdgrun - Rohrer & Klingner.

I hope you like the comparison and find it useful

Great Caesar's Ghost! What are you going to do with the rest of your life? Sheesh, that is the most thorough thing I have ever beheld! Thank you for doing that, I love greens and was greatly amused by all this. Love the one named "Lizard", that is just funny.

This is amazing! Thanks for all the work you put into this. I absolutely love green ink and have added quite a few to my list to try!

So many inks, so little time...

Well done.

I was fortunate enough to hit upon GvFC Moss Green relatively early in my search for a nice green. I agree that it's toward the top of the list for dark greens.

To call this comparison impressive wouldn't do justice to the effort and the result.

I just wanted to add that I have the GvFC Moss Green, and the Penman Emerald. They are both beautiful greens!

Happy to see the Moss Green came out as one of your favorites from this many inks!

WOW!!!

I think I like Moss Green and I'm not usually a green ink fan.

There goes my ink budget for the rest of 2014! I already have more greens than anything else but, apparently, I don't have enough yet. Must acquire MB Irish and Penman Emerald and Moss by GVFC. Those take my breath away!

I enjoyed seeing the splashes not only for what they demonstrate about the ink but the artwork that they are. Amazing display, thorough look at great greens!

THANK YOU!

Wow, they certainly were amazing to look at!

I have to say I've never found a need for green ink (closest I've come is Quink Blue Black that seemed to dry to am ugly greyish green), but I may need to pick up a bottle after seeing this. Penman Emerald and PR Ebony Green were my favourites, but there were so many great ones to choose from!

Currently inked: Diamine Apple Glory (Rembrandt), Pelikan 4001 Turquoise (M400), Lamy Black (Diamond 580)

Genuinely outstanding report. Perhaps the forum moderators might consider marking this review for reference: it ought to be the standard to which others should be compared!!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
